Monroe County is the lead in coordinating our local response (partners include government, private-sector and volunteers) to a Ginna emergency event. The federal government has established planning criteria for municipalities within certain distances of nuclear power plants (10 miles). In Monroe County, this encompasses portions of the Towns of Webster and Penfield. It is published by the Executive Board in order to convey all We are looking for county staff to serve in our Personnel Monitoring Centers (PMCs) which are facilities that help county residents ensure they are safe if there was an emergency event at Ginna. Please consider “raising your hand” to serve in this vital role to help our fellow county residents during such an emergency. Mike Sayers from the Department of Public Health will be presenting at several upcoming Department of Human Services staff meetings to explain the roles you may serve in and the training involved.
