Mötley Crüe are synonymous with debauchery and excess. On Friday night they lived up to that reputation with
showmanship that had a sold-out Tacoma Dome “Shouting at the Devil” well into the night.
Special guest Alice Cooper opened the evening, and the godfather of shock-rock delivered the goods. A bit of w
choose Cooper as an opening act at your own risk. With four decades of performing under his belt, Cooper still
have inspired many performers throughout the years. Surely Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson owe part of their
shock-rocker.
Cooper has never posed as a sex symbol or taken himself as seriously as the Crue. He’s always been a horror fi
in a magnificent shroud of hooks and power chords. Still in fine voice at age 67, Cooper commanded the stage w

Cooper has a magnetism that simply demands attention, and the crowd was mesmerized as he and his rockin b

Cooper’s set was a testament to the one thing that often gets lost when discussing his legacy as a performer – t
great rock songs. Closing with the iconic “Schools Out” (complete with a section of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”), Co

As “So Long, Farewell” (from “The Sound of Music”) bled out from the speakers, Mötley Crüe took the stage lo

As vocalist Vince Neil prowled the stage and Mick Mars kept the riffs coming, Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee lived

Love.”
Featuring more pyro than a Kiss concert, an endless array of pyrotechnics, fire and confetti brought a sense of b
particular wall-of-fire effect early in the show had people looking around to determine the nearest exit, but soon

Lee remains a hard-hitter. His nearly nine minute mid-set solo (performed upside down from aboard his roller co

Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, and various techno hits along with Led Zeppelin’s “Moby Dick” into
but it worked magnificently.
Certainly, it wouldn’t be a Mötley Crüe show without some skin. The scantily clad backing singers that accompan

Of course, everybody knew “Home Sweet Home” would be the last song Motley Crue would perform on their far
anticipation. With smoke from the pyro still hanging in the air, the group marched through the crowd to a smaller
Dome, carrying large flashlights with beams that cut through the thick air. As the small stage rose up towards the

dramatic and tasteful effect, and a nice way to show camaraderie with the fans. Let’s just hope they don’t give A
