BRAZIL 2016
will present participants with information about and unique experiences within two
major urban centers of Brazil: São Paulo, the largest metropolitan area (20 million inhabitants) in the southern hemisphere with its seemingly endless field of towers
interspersed with significant architecture, landscapes and interiors, and Rio de Janeiro,
with its extant Imperial and Colonial fabric, modern and contemporary architecture, as
well as its ubiquitous favelas.
You will spend three days in São Paulo and five days in Rio de Janeiro to tour the cities
and visit modern and contemporary architecture, interiors, landscape and urban
infrastructure projects such as Paulo Mendes de Rocha’s Museu Brasileiro da Escultura,
Marcio Kogan’s Cultural Bookstore, Beco do Batman Graffiti in Vila Madelana, Oscar
Niemeyer’s Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói, the Teleferico Do
Alemao in the Complexo do Alemão (favela), Diller Scofido + Renfro’s MIS in
