Man Flow Yoga (for ladies as well!) will be hosting a 5-day retreat in beautiful Haliburton, Ontario from Wednesday, September 17th to Sunday, September 21st, 2014. Dean Pohlman, CEO and Founder of Man Flow Yoga, will be collaborating with Holly and Pablo of SUPnorth Paddle Board Adventures, Julie Barban of Heritage Ballet & Pilates, and Suzanne Haedicke, Zumba instructor, to bring you a diverse array of physical activities, to make this a physical fitness-oriented retreat. This nature getaway is located just two and a half hours north east of Toronto, far away enough to be removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.! Haliburton County in fall delivers fresh air, a spectacular display of vibrant foliage, and is the perfect excuse for a romantic getaway, or a personal retreat from your busy life. Hike through the woods, detox in the sauna, rejuvenate in the hot tub, or lounge in your cottage near the crackling wood burning fireplace after a long day of workouts and outdoor activities. There are optional guided activities available, including golfing, fishing, hiking and more! You can also experience the arts with local Haliburton Artist Studios (by appointment only), a "Walk in the Clouds" or a visit the Wolf Centre. We will be staying at the Halimar Resort, owned and operated by Suzanne and Jan Haedicke. There will be three sessions each day, ranging in length from 60 - 90 minutes. Most of the classes will be Man Flow Yoga sessions led by Dean, but there will also be stand up paddle board yoga, yoga-infused Pilates, and even a Zumba class. (Don’t laugh - Dean will be joining too!). The first class will take place during the evening of Wednesday, September 17th. The conclusion to the retreat and the final class will take place on the morning of Sunday, September 21st in time for check-out at 10:00 AM. Participants are requested to arrive in at Pearson International Airport on Wednesday morning, leaving them with plenty of time to get to Haliburton and situate themselves before their first yoga session. ! Be sure to sign up by July 21st to take advantage of the early bird special, which is $1035.1 The price will rise to $1185 on July 16th. The cost of the trip includes: a private bedroom (for yourself, or you and your partner) in a cozy lakeside cottage, (5) 90minute Man Flow Yoga sessions, (1) 60-minute Man Flow Yoga session, (1) 90-minute Stand-up Paddle Board (SUP) session, (3) yoga-infused Pilates sessions, and (1) 45minute Zumba class, a catered Friday evening dinner with wine, and a Saturday barbecue (including alcohol).! 5% of all profits will be donated to a local children's community project. ! Halimar is a traditional family resort that has hosted guests since 1940. The name was created from "Haliburton di Mare", which expresses its unique location on the famous Lake Kashagawigamog, in the centre of the Haliburton Highlands.! Where traditions are started... Heritage Ballet is a child and adult community based business established over the last 12 years. At the helm is Julie Barban. The studio offers a range of classes from Ballet to Tap and Jazz to Pilates, and Julie’s core belief is to instill confidence in children and help them to find their potential.! ! Julie received her Pilates Matwork Certification from the Physical Mind Institute in 2001. Her classes are based on Joseph Pilates classic exercises with a little Franklin method twist! These classes will work you from head to toe with a strong emphasis on core strength.! ! Yoga and Pilates have similar breathing and centering practices. The core strength you build in Pilates helps give the stability needed in yoga poses while stretching. The control you learn in Yoga poses will help hold the core focused exercises in Pilates.! ! Suzanne Haedicke, Zumba! Zumba is a dance fitness program created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez during the 1990s. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba's choreography incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and martial arts. Squats and lunges are also included.! ! Payment Information! If you submit your $500 deposit before the July 21st early bird deadline, the total cost of the trip will be $1035 per person (or $1135 per person for a private cottage.) You should plan on arriving at Pierson International in the morning on September 17th, so that you have time to retrieve your luggage and arrange your transportation from the airport to Halimar and arrive in time for the evening Man Flow Yoga session (around 6:00 PM - subject to change). You should schedule a flight for the afternoon of September 21st.! ! Are there bugs? ! The buggy season is past in Halimar during the month of September, but there are still some bugs. Local natural bug repellent options will be available in the town of Haliburton - try Sharpley’s Source for Sports on Main Street, Haliburton.! ! What about transportation? Do we need to rent cars?! The location of the retreat is located 2 hours North of Toronto and the town of Haliburton is remote and a car is needed to travel to local amenities including grocery stores and additional sightseeing in the area. However, you will know the participants of the retreat beforehand, so it will be possible to coordinate car pools. We are working out discounts with car rental agencies at Pierson International for participants. There are bus options from the airport to Haliburton as well, for those who are unable or unwilling to rent a car. ! Where will be doing yoga?! We will have an indoor option, but outside is an option too, weather permitting!! ! Is it warm enough outside? ! The fall temperature in Haliburton can range from 60 degrees F to 80 degrees F (16 degrees C to 25 degrees C).
