The children are loving their rugby league. Mr. Ward and Year 6 are planning the Year 6 Farewell and our whole school is preparing for our Cultural Day and annual Presentation Night. We have a busy term ahead full of fun and educational events. WOW Day - Mufti Day - Friday 14th November This year we are participating in WOW Day! During WOW Day we wear orange to school. This is to support our local State Emergency Services. We all donate a gold coin for this very important charity. In the country, we understand how much we need the State Emergency Services and ask that you support them generously on Friday 14th November. Special Congratulations goes to our Student of the week for week 6: Natasha McCann Cultural Day Celebration - Thursday 4th December Our whole school is celebrating Cultural Day on Thursday 4th December. Each class is planning their cultural event for the celebration. We hope to have cooking, crafts, information and visiting guests. Contact the school if you would like to be involved in our celebration. Presentation Night - Tuesday 9th December Stokers Siding School’s Presentation Night will be held on Tuesday 9th December. Our evening commences with an Art Show in the classrooms at 5.00 p.m. From 6.00 p.m. we will walk to the hall for our Presentation Night. The evening concludes at 8.00 p.m. Please join us to acknowledge our children and staff of our Small School, Big Family. Library News We have some wonderful new books in our library. Make sure you check them out! We have everything from Junior Fiction and Senior Fiction to Non Fiction. Gloria’s assistant Jenny did a wonderful job in our library last week. She made sure all the books were in their right spot. Find the books you love and borrow them. Keep reading everyone! Rod Hollis RED FOOD DAY! FRIDAY 14TH NOVEMBER! Children’s Christmas Celebration “Christmas Lights” at Stokers Siding School Our Christmas presentation will be held between 12.00 and 1.00 p.m. on Friday 12th of December 2014. It will be an original and contemporary one hour whole school presentation for K-6. It is a multi-media program which includes song, story, game, activity & craft with the theme “Christmas Lights.” K/1 News K/1 have been learning Origami as part of our Cultural Celebrations unit. In Japan, Boy’s Day Festival is celebrated with people flying amazing kites. Our Japanese guest, Mrs Shimizu (senior) visited our classroom to teach K/1 the art of Origami. We learnt about “Flying Fish” and had a wonderful time learning a new skill. Mrs. Shimizu Murwillumbah Show Excursion K-6 enjoyed the events at Murwillumbah Show. We learned about shearing sheep and all about Llamas. The Pavilion was very interesting. We saw our school’s display and all the farming produce on show. It was a very hot day. We are very lucky that the Murwillumbah Show is free entry for everyone! Community News: 1) Mumzbuzz Christmas Soiree Monday 8th December Kingscliff Beach Hotel. Morning out for Tweed Coast parents and kids under 5. 2) Book/DVD Launch Matt Ottley Thursday 13th November at the Regent Cinema. 3) More information on school noticeboard. Marg Eaton. Principal.
