The Prayer Center of Orland Park Monthly Newsletter 3 EID AL-ADHA WITH OPPC 2010 A lhamdulillah, we were able to experience yet another beautiful Eid! This year, Salat-il Eid was held at the Holiday Inn Tinley Park Convention Center on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. The prayer was held at 8:30am given by Sheikh Mabrook. It was followed by an inspiring khutbah also given by Sheikh Mabrook. If you were in attendance, you witnessed an individual make sahadah - and accept Islam. Please welcome this new brother to our great community. We ask Allah (swt) to bless him and guide him. Many families attended and enjoyed this joyful holiday with their loved ones around them. It was a full house with over 5,000 parents and children. Alhamdulillah, it was an amazing sight to see. We would like to thank all the volunteers that helped with the parking outside, as well as the ones that helped inside of the convention center with getting everyone inside and guiding them to the right places. All of you made this day go by smoothly, Jazzakum Allahu Khairun! How? It says that humans can not write a book like this even if they pooled all their resources together and got help also from the spirits. The Quran said this fourteen hundreds years ago and yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions of books have been written - but not another one like the Quran. God has not left you alone. You were made for a reason. God tells you why he made you, what he demands from you, and what he has in store for you. If you operate a machine contrary to it’s manufacture specification you will ruin that machine. What about you? Do you have an owner’s manual for you? The Quran is from your function for success lest you fail to function. It is a healing mercy from God. It satisfies the soul, and cleans the heart. It removes doubts and brings peace. (2) Incorruptible: It is the only religious sacred writing which has been in circulation for such a long time and yet remains as pure as it was in the beginning. The Quran was kept intact. Nothing was added to it; nothing was changed in it; and nothing was taken away from it ever since it was completely revealed 1400 years ago. (3) Unsurpassable: The Quran is God’s final revelation to humankind. God revealed the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, and finally the Quran to Muhammad. Peace be upon all of them. No other book will come from God to surpass his final revelation. DECE MBER 2 01 0 | MU HARR AM 14 31 (4) Indisputable: 6 The Quran withstands the test of time and scrutiny. No one can dispute the truth of this book. It speaks about past history and turns out right. It speaks about the future in prophecies and it turns out right. It mentions details of physical phenomena which were not known to people at the time; yet later scientific discoveries confirm that the Quran was right all along. Every other book needs to be revised to accord with modern knowledge. The Quran alone is never contradicted by a modern discovery. (5) Your Roadmap for Life and Afterlife: The Quran is the best guidebook on how to structure your life. No other book presents such a comprehensive system involving all aspects of human life and endeavor. The Quran also points out the way to secure everlasting happiness in the afterlife. It is your roadmap showing how to get to paradise. (7) Your Calling Card to Communicate with God: Humans are social creatures. We love to communicate with other intelligent life. The Quran tells us how to communicate with the source of all intelligence and the source of all life- the One God. The Quran tells us who God is, by what name we should address God, and the way in which to communicate with God. Are these not seven sufficient reasons for reading the Quran? 7 The Prayer Center of Orland Park Monthly Newsletter We would also like to say, thank you to the older girls who are coming to the lessons. “Al Muminat” program is a sisterhood, for Muslim girls to connect with one another in Islam. We look forward to many more months of learning, exploring and understanding Islam in connection with our own Identity. “Going Green and Islam” Today, in the media and daily life, “Going Green” is the term we hear too often. For many of us Going Green is a lifestyle, and others lack of awareness and understanding. Yet, the realization of how we can make a difference is not far from the imagination. In Islam “Going Green” is not something new. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) guided Muslims to live a healthy life, and to respect, care, nurture and conserve world resources. Islam’s Holy book, Qur’an says; “And produced therein all kinds of things in due balance.” (Surah 15, verse 19) “Verily, all things have we created in proportion and measure” (Surah 54, verse 49) “Every single thing is before His sight, in proportion” (Surah 13, verse 8) Al-Muminat Program experienced these concepts of conservation during the mentor program PROGRAM DATE: Sunday, December 12, 2010 TIME: 12:00pm-1:00pm promptly AGES: 3 to 5 years old WE ENCOURAGE PARENTS TO JOIN IN ON THE FUN! The Dollar-A-Day Campaign works by receiving $1.00 per day of the month to be added to the funds of the Prayer Center. How it works In the first week of each month, your credit card or checking account will be charged a total of $1.00 per day totaling the amount of days in that month. For example, in the first week of July your card will be charged $31.00 for the month of July. You will be charged at the beginning of each month for that month. What’s It for? The funds received from this program are allocated for all expenses of the masjid. Construction of the Qur’an Academy is still underway. Also, it is needed for utility bills, programs, books, maintenance, school, supplies, and so much more! The masjid needs your help to continue to run its daily routine. The importance of donating The Prophet (pbuh) said: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” -Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604. Also, every penny you donate towards helping the masjid and the Qur’an Academy is not forgotten by Allah. The individuals that benefit from this will, Inshallah, allow you to benefit as well. It means after one year, the masjid will have raised $36,500.00.The above accomplishments can only go so far without your help. Join today! Can I pay more? Yes. If you would like to pay more than $1.00 per day, simply note it on the slip along with your account information. How long will I be charged for? The charges will be continuous, until you decide when you need to stop. What if my information changes?
