Hubert Anthony
Lyons, 84
Man of many talents,
keen mind, analytical
acumen and dramatic flair,
Hubert Anthony Lyons
II died peacefully at his
home in Mobile, Ala., on
December 23, 2015. He
was 84.
He was born in
Manhattan on Dec. 30,
1930, the son of the late
urologist
Dr.
Hubert
Anthony Lyons and the late
Mary Hayes Lyons. His
aunt Hilda Hayes Austin of
Tupper Lake, brother David
Risse Lyons, sister Mary
Lyons French, son John
Francis Lyons, daughter
Anne Derick Lyons, and
grandson Loudon Lyons
also preceded him in death.
A cousin of the
Littlefield families, he
graduated from Tupper
Lake High School. While
attending
Spring
Hill
College in Mobile, Ala., he
met his wife of 66 years,
Mary Frances McCrary
Lyons. They met after
a Joe Jefferson Player’s
audition for the male
romantic interest in The
Royal Family, a play about
theater’s Barrymores. Mr.
Lyons got the part. He had
a good speaking voice,
which he used in producing
promotional shows as an
employee of Alabama Dry
Docks, and as a volunteer
reading for Alabama for
the Blind on public radio.
Among his other talents,
he was an accomplished
photographer,
played
marimba on the local Dot
Moore show and worked as
a quality control specialist
for Boeing in Seattle, Japan
and Indonesia.
Mr. Lyons loved
spending time with his 11

many outdoor adventures,
once tried to scare a bear
away from the bacon and
chocolate in Yosemite Park
and later drove to Alaska.
He loved the Catholic
Church, classical music
and all animals – especially
dogs. After witnessing the
aftermath of a motorcycle
accident, he took his BMW
motorcycle apart so his sons
could no longer sneak it out
at night, and went back to
the Ford Pinto. He read
widely and made decisions
with an independent mind.

REFRESH YOURSELF in the Peace of My Presence. This
Peace can be your portion at all times and in all circumstances.
Learn to hide in the secret of My Presence, even as you carry out
your duties in the world. I am both with you and within you. I
go before you to open up the way, and I also walk alongside you.
There could never be another companion as devoted as I am.
Because I am your Companion, there should be a lightness
to your step that is observable to others. Do not be weighed down
with problems and unresolved issues, for I am your burdenbearer. In the world you have trials and distress, but don’t let
them get you down. I have conquered the world and deprived
it of power to harm you. In Me you may have confident Peace.
