FIRE PREVENTION WEEK OCTOBER 5-11
2014 POSTER/ESSAY CONTEST
Fire Prevention Week takes place October 5-11 this year. In an effort to educate students about fire safety,
the Mount Prospect Fire Department annually sponsors a poster/essay contest. The theme this year is:
Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives:
Test Yours Every Month!
Mount Prospect students are encouraged to design a poster, write an essay or create a multi-media
presentation, depending on their grade level, using this year’s theme. Students may enter the contest
through their school or individually if their school elects not to participate.
Entries are judged on originality, creativity and use of theme.
All entries will receive a participation ribbon; however, a first, second and third place winner will be
chosen from each grade level. All of the first place winners will then proceed to the Village-wide
contest, with the final winners receiving an award from the Mayor at an upcoming Village Board meeting.

Kindergarten through 5th grade students are invited to design a poster.
6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to write an essay or create a multi-media presentation.
