Essay Writing Contest
Korean-American Youth Assistance Coalition (KAYAC) is pleased to announce the
Essay Writing Contest for the students who participated in the 2014 Motherland
Excursion for Korean-American Youth.
KAYAC encourages all the students to participate in this year’s Essay Writing Contest to
share their experiences with fellow Korean-American youths.
FORMAT
Each entry should include:
 Completed entry form
 Original entry of maximum 500 words, typed, double spaced, Times New Roman
12 pt font in English OR 바탕 11 pt font in Korean
 Entry pages (8 ½ “x 11”) stapled together
 Word count noted on entry form
If any of the above items are missing, the entry will be considered incomplete and may be
disqualified.
TOPIC
Reflecting on the 2014 Motherland Excursion to Korea, the essay should include the
following:
"Your Identity as [a Korean or] a Korean American"
Please elaborate on your clear-cut future roles as a member of Korean (American)
community, American society, and the world.
DEADLINE
The essay and entry form should be postmarked no later than Feb 15, 2015 and mailed to
