Adaptive MultiMic technology with Natural Sound.
This innovative combination enables the recreation of the pinna effect with the simultaneous adaptive reduction of up
to 4 independent sources of interference. In order to satisfy the individual needs of the hearing system wearer, there
are three different setting options available to program the microphone system.
Omnidirectional:
Natural Sound:
The microphone characteristics are switched to static
omnidirectional. Signals from all directions are received
by the microphone with the same sensitivity.
In BTE systems, the sound is not picked up in the ear but
above the ear. Thus the natural influence of the ear (pinna
effect) on the sound is completely eliminated and the
signal produced sounds more unnatural. There is also an
influence on the ability to localize noise sources since the
natural directional effect is also impaired.
Directional adaptive:
On the basis of environment detection, the multi-channel
MultiMic microphone system is capable of setting the
respective optimum microphone characteristics in each
case. The focus is placed on signals coming from the
front. Up to four moving rear frequency-independent
sources of noise can also be faded out to optimize speech
clarity.
If there are multiple interfering noise sources within the
same frequency range, the source with the highest
intensity is suppressed.
Natural Sound technically simulates the frequency-specific
behavior of the outer ear such that similar directionality to
that of the unaided ear is achieved (high frequencies:
directional, low frequencies: omnidirectional). The hearing
instrument wearer enjoys natural sound and can distinguish
more easily whether a sound is coming from behind or in
front.
Natural Sound works in combination with adaptive
microphone systems. The benefits of Natural Sound can
therefore be used in omnidirectional mode.
In directional mode, up to four frequency-independent
sources of noise can be faded out. The transition between
the various settings is slow and therefore can not be
heard by the user.
The unique MultiMic microphone technology of the
VENETO system ensures that in any situation, the microphone characteristics are automatically adjusted to ensure
optimum speech intelligibility.
The most modern management of acoustic
feedback with Active Feedback Block 2G.
VENETO uses next-generation phase cancellation feedback
management systems. With Active Feedback Block 2G,
feedback above 1100 Hz (and therefore significantly
sooner than comparable systems) is eliminated without
affecting amplification and sound quality.
The signal amplified by the hearing system is automatically
„marked“ with a phase modulation that cannot be heard
by the user. This marking is used to identify signals
already processed by the hearing system and feedback
can then be detected by the VENETO signal processing
quickly and with certainty.
In order to implement rapid and artifact-free elimination,
the signal in the feedback case is given a temporary
frequency shift of 25 Hz. This shift enables the extremely
rapid adjustment of all parameters in the VENETO system
necessary for elimination of the feedback. Feedback is
then eliminated through the addition of a phase-rotated
(shift by 180°) signal. In comparison to previous systems,
there is an additional feedback-free gain of approximately
11 dB.
This system is complemented by the Open Optimizer for
open fittings. Here the multi-channel MultiMic system is
switched to a directional characteristic within the high
frequency channels. The inbound sensitivity for high
frequency signals arriving from the side is reduced and
re-entry into the hearing system is blocked. The Open
Optimizer increases the feedback-free gain by approximately 4 dB more in the case of background noise and
approximately 7 dB more when quiet.
The Media highlights.
More options have been integrated: for comfort and for sound.
i-com2 and Bluetooth functionality.
Expanded bandwidth thanks to Hifi sound.
The settings for both hearing systems are automatically
synchronized on a continual basis using the innovative
i-com2 technology. The synchronization relates to various
system parameters: configuration of microphone characteristics, voice detection operation, noise reduction, Sound
Impulse Management, and feedback management. Each
hearing system is equipped with its own environment
detection logic. To ensure that both hearing systems can
work synchronized, a decision matrix is used continuously.
If Media is used together with a Bluetooth-compatible
telephone, it communicates with the hearing systems,
enabling them to be used like a headset. The telephone
signal can be heard in both hearing systems. The incoming
call is indicated and can be accepted and also ended
again using Media or rejected from the start.
To simplify the use of Media, individual names can be
defined and programmed for the five programs (e.g.
theater, home). A text to be displayed when Media is
switched on (e.g. next service appointment with date)
can also be programmed.
Hifi sound expands the transmission range of the new
VENETO from 8,000 Hz, which is the customary maximum
for hearing systems, to up to 12,000 Hz. As a result, a
fuller and more natural sound is achieved. The function
for listening to music and Media usage is especially
advantageous since the limitation of the Bluetooth
standard to 7,500 Hz is canceled out by the Hifi sound,
and the user is offered a broader-band signal with the
best sound quality. The evaluation for expansion into the
higher frequencies is carried out based on an analysis of
the lower frequency ranges of the incoming signal. This
method prevents an increase in the tendency to feedback
thanks to usage of Hifi sound.

In addition, with Media, the hearing systems work like
stereo headphones. To enable this, the Media Transmitter
supplied with Media can simply be connected to the
television or other audio system. Via Media, the audio
signal is transmitted wirelessly to the hearing systems. A
special Bluetooth protocol ensures that the television
image and sound are always perfectly synchronized.
The maximum distance between the Media Transmitter
and Media is approximately 10 meters. Audio systems can
also be directly connected to Media (direct audio). Media
must be programmed together with the respective VENETO
hearing systems. For this Media is connected to a USB
port on the computer using a special programming cable.
Microphone
Manual changes to volume or the switching of programs
are also synchronized to prevent different volume and
program settings on each side. Sources of noise can
therefore be located much better than with hearing
systems which work independently, since the natural time
intervals and differences in noise levels which are important
for directional hearing are preserved. Hearing system wearers
experience a true binaural fitting with balanced sound
and better speech intelligibility in noisy environments.
i-com2 enables stereo transmission combined with a wide
transmission bandwidth with low power consumption. The
use of Bluetooth functionality is therefore possible with
the Media remote control and the Media Transmitter.
Going beyond the traditional functions of a remote
control, using Bluetooth and i-com2, Media provides a
wireless connection between the hearing systems and
various different external signal sources.
Naturally the VENETO range also includes a conventional
remote control. Simple to use with a discreet design –

Exchange Kit. At regular intervals (approximately every 3
months) the upper part should be replaced to prevent an
acoustic impairment of the system due to soiling of the built-in
microphone wax guard. The specially developed Mic Cover

barely visible transparent tube.
