We strive to collect and preserve the history, art and culture of the Santa Monica Bay Area and to be the caretaker of its history. Our mission is the advancement of historical information and education, through the collection, documentation and preservation of objects and memorabilia relating to Santa Monica. The museum’s goal is to provide public access to its extensive collection through interpretive exhibitions, various programs and research services for everyone. Each has received special awards for their distinguished service. Its major projects include saving the city’s oldest brick building from demolition, sponsoring the city’s first archaeological dig, and doing the research that gave the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club landmark status.
