GREETINGS FELLOW 300 ENTHUIASTS
This quarter’s news covers a few subjects.
We feel bad to have Merle Wolfer stepping down from
the position of Editor, Historian and Librarian. Merle
is a wonderful humble man who instantly earned my
respect upon our first meeting.
He started out as contributing editor approximately 10
years ago when Ken Smith was president. He then
took over the position after Ken left. In the 10 years
Merle has been doing our Brute Force I know of 3 plus
Golden Quill Awards he earned for our magazine. Thank
you Merle.
Merle also found his replacement, Dr. Tony Rinaldi. This
is amazing. The time I met Tony was at The Laguna
Seca Raceway at the Joint meet in Carmel. He was in
the back seat of my 300 Convert grabbing his hat and
screaming, “Where are the Seat Belts,” As we were skidding sideways around corner after corner on the track.
Well we all survived the fun time on the track. Although I
was worried Tony would never speak with me again. (By
the way, I still have all 4 hubcaps. Woohoo. ) Tony also
took some great movies from the back seat looking over
the hood. Thanks Tony.
Tony Rinaldi would be much appreciative if all the CLUB
CONSULTANTS would contact him either by email or by
phone to help him come up with subjects in the upcoming publications. Tony’s information is on our website or
awrdoc@yahoo.com. Watch for the future magazines
as I have been promised some VERY NICE CHANGES.
Another Thank You to Merle, he has agreed to stick
around as Contributing Editor and is not leaving our
Family of 300 Motor Heads.
Plan on Chrysler 300 Club Inc. 2014 Event June 4th –
June 8th, Kokomo, Indiana and The White Sands 300
Classic meet at the Farfield Inn & Suites, 300 Panorama Blvd. Alamogordo NM. Sept 17 to 21, 2014. (Did
you get that Address?)
So much more to tell you but I am running out of space
so I best say Farewell until next time. Check out our
website, it is changing, possibly online Brute Force
added.
Happy Safe Motoring to you all. May the Best of Good
Health be yours.
Kermit Eskelsen, president

Brute Force:July-September, 2013
editor’s notes
We have found a new editor for the magazine and so
this will be my last one. I have been editor of Brute
Force for 10 years so it's time to bring in some new
talent. Tony Rinaldi has accepted the position of editor
and I will be assisting in the transition. From time to
time I may also contribute to the magazine. I have
enjoyed my time as editor and have met many of you as
I traveled around the country attending various meets. I
do intend to continue attending meets and enjoying the
people and cars.
I'll see you down the road,
Merle
Members of our Chrysler 300 Club, Inc. receive, learn
from and thoroughly enjoy this magazine. The Chrysler
300 Club, Inc. and its members are proud of the magazine and Merle’s recent Golden Quill Award and offer
our congratulations to him and to all the car magazine
editors that work so hard to help us all enjoy our hobby.
Merle has been working with me in the goal of transitioning to the Brute Force editorship for the next issue.
I will need the assistance of the members in an attempt
to keep the quality at its current high level.
This magazine has always been by the members as
well as for the members. I would like to introduce 4
new regular quarterly sections and ask that you submit
material to me for consideration. Digitized hi resolution
photos are a necessity when possible. Or send me your
Kodak moments and I will scan them for you. Just don’t
expect the originals back.
My 300: Articles about member’s 300s before, during
and/or after restoration. Don’t forget nicknames and
stories to go along with your photos.
Consultants’ Corner: There are 20 different categories
for letter and non-letter series 300s. Surely, we can
get these knowledgeable consultants to contribute the
FAQs and answers, from members, regarding reoccurring issues with their 300s.
Tech Talk: Articles from members regarding tech fixes
and “work arounds” for various technical issues with
their 300s. The “doctor is in” sort of thing.
Vintage 300 Ads: Submit a favorite 300 ad by Chrysler
from period magazines or dealer promotional material.
I am also looking for a creative person, with a sense of
humor, who can draw cartoons relating to 300s and the
collector car hobby in general.
That is all that I can think of for now. I am confident going forward because not only am I standing on Merle’s
shoulders, but am confident that “he has my back” for
support and assistance whenever I need it.
Tony

The Story of Emmett
One upon a time way back near the dawn of time, (It was in
the early 80s), Randy Hastie was up to no good. This was
not unusual as Randy could be counted on to keep things
lively and even entertaining.
Legend has it that Randy found a 300F convertible and
dragged it home.
If you don’t know about Randy he owns a Sand and Gravel
business. So the story was told that this particular 300F
convertible came out of a gravel pit.
While we can’t verify this ancient history the car certainly
looked as if it could have been stored in a gravel pit or
similar hideout.
300K coupe at our Placerville Meet with hay bale
on the back. This is 2nd gen. Emmett
With the car in his possession Randy set about making the
car run so that it could be driven but he didn’t do very much
else.
This was long before people were getting excited about
barn find cars, plus of course, this was a gravel pit find and
there was no category for them yet.
Once the car could be driven Randy strapped a bale of hay
on the back, put some landscaping tools in the car and a
front license plate that said Emmett.
Rumor has it that he drove it around his neighborhood and
often parked it on the street to improve his neighborhood
and impress his neighbors.
Front license plate says “Emmett Lives”. This is the
work of Randy Hastie, one of our
resident jokesters.
300F convertibles are not common cars so after Emmett
had served its demeaning role as hay hauler, etc., Randy
did the right thing and restored the car to show condition.
Today, it is a proud show queen,
keeping company with other high
class cars. I’m sure it would want to
keep its rough and tumble past as
quiet as possible.
The 300K on this page is a 2nd generation Emmett.
We dug through the archives
and found this photo of the
original Emmett taken at our
Carson City, Nevada show in
1986.

What’s Wrong With This Picture?
Here is a trivia quiz about Chrysler 300s that will be pretty
obvious to 300K owners but may challenge the rest of you.
So sharpen your powers of observation and look at the picture. Something in the photo just isn’t right. Can you decide
what it is? Now don’t peek at the answer.
ANSWER:
The car is a 63 Chrysler with a 64 grille. The 64 Chrysler 300 uses a different front bumper, does not have individual Chrysler letters on the hood but
does have a chrome strip that runs down the center of the hood.
More trivia. Did you know that the 63 Chryslers used the same bumper
front and rear? That bumper was carried over to 64 and was used on the
rear of the 64 also.

300 Pleasures in Placerville
As April rolled around the weather was a bit wet where I
live, but as the month progressed the weather got better
and on Tuesday before the meet we left home and drove
about halfway to Placerville.
We completed the drive on Wednesday and it was sunny and about 80 degrees when we arrived. The weather
remained perfect for the remainder of our visit with sunny,
warm days during all of our tours and events.
In top right photo Cecil Moore explains to Merle Wolfer how he got Virgil Exner’s hat, (kidding).
Lower photo shows an assortment of cars in the parking lot of the museum on Thursday.
Thursday we traveled out in the country on our Gold Country tour to Coloma where we went through the Gold Discovery Museum. There is a lot of western history here.
After lunch aboard the Old Delta King Ferry Boat we had a
private tour of the railroad museum in old town Sacramento.
After the museum we resumed our tour and had lunch at
the Diamond Springs Hotel.
In between all of these events of course there were stories
to tell and many stories there were for sure.
After lunch the tour moved on to Sutter Creek to browse
through the town. Again, the old west and its history was
the theme.
And then, suddenly, it was Saturday and showtime.
Friday morning the group was on tour before 9am to travel
a few miles for a chance to see a prominent car collection
in Northern California. This is an excellent collection with
some rare cars including Mopars.

Two 1956 300Bs, Both cars are restoration projects; guaranteed complete, needing only minor body-work, paint, new interiors, new chrome, and drivetrain & brakes rebuilt. Both come
with mint grills, and horn rings. With the spare parts I have
collected for 25 years, both cars can be rebuild with all three of
the prime factory options of; torquflight transmissions (3 speed
automatic) factory air conditioning; and spoked wheels. Very
few 300 B’s have all three.
Both cars have build-sheets. Both have valve-covers, pan, &
bat-wing air filters, hot-tanked and sprayed with ‘chrome yellow’ primer. I have owned these cars about 30 years and never
got around to restoring them. During this time they have been
stored in sheds in Alpine, Ca., at 2000’ elevation
Restored, these cars are currently being sold at a around
$80,000.
