Page 14 Community Newsletter Spring 2016 www.aurorapubliclibrary.org Hold the burger, get the book Today’s libraries are gathering places for members of the community to collaborate on projects, host and attend programs, or meet with colleagues in a conference room. But sometimes, it’s inconvenient to have to leave your car to go into the library just to pick up a book on hold or to drop off a book that is due. Now, you don’t have to. Two drive-up windows on the south side of the Richard and Gina Santori Public Library of Aurora can help you accomplish both tasks without leaving your car. And although you can’t get a burger with your book, your child can get a lollipop and your dog can have a biscuit. The Pickup window is where you can retrieve books that you have on hold. Simply choose “Santori Pickup Window” when you place your hold. The Drop Off window is just east of the Pickup window. This is an automated return window that checks your books in as soon as you place them on the belt. Both of the windows are located on Jenkins Lane, which runs east from Middle Avenue to Visit us online! River Street off the library parking lot. For those times you want to be social, there are plenty of activities inside all our library locations. (Read all about them inside this newsletter!) But we also enjoy collaborating with cafes that host storytimes led by library staff. All our remote storytimes have been ongoing for several years, and our storytellers love taking their stories on the road. Now that spring is on the horizon, it’s a good time to try a storytime either at one of our library locations or at one of our local Panera Bread cafes or River’s Edge Café in downtown Aurora. And your children will love getting a treat at the end! You can find a listing of community storytimes at right. And for those of you who may have been wondering… the old Main library building has been sold. The Aurora Public Library Board of Directors approved the sale of the building at 1 E. Benton St. to Support Companies, LLC, late last year. Known as one of the premiere technical and customer support enterprises in the Midwest, Support Companies, LLC has been in business for more than 20 years and has more than 100 full-time permanent employees.
