We’ve enjoyed a highly gratifying first half of 2013, with the year’s positive development continuing right through June and beyond. The trade fair business and the services sector have undergone particularly strong growth, while our Wirtshaus Depot 1899 restaurant has seen a double-digit increase in sales. The first six months of 2013 held numerous exciting assignments in store including the general shareholder meetings of Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank, as well as the gala evening of the Life Entertainment Award with 1,300 persons at the Frankfurter Festhalle. One special highlight was the catering for the Germany exhibition stand of the German Convention Bureau at the IMEX fair. Our socially and ecologically responsible range of products played a role in the GCB receiving the Green Exhibitor Award from IMEX and the GMIC (Green Meeting Industry Council) for its sustainable overall concept. Holger Schuster, Klaus-Peter Suhling Managing Directors We are looking forward with great excitement to the opening of the new Kap Europa sustainable congress centre next year and to continuing further along this future-orientated path together with the Messe Frankfurt. But before that, we still have a wealth of conventions and events to look after here. The IAA 2013 and the Frankfurt Book Fair are only two of the highlights scheduled to follow virtually uninterrupted after the brief summer break. With the positive overall feedback from numerous customers and the orders pouring in, we are optimistic that the second half of 2013 will also hold plenty of work and corresponding success in store for Accente. The fact that we can handle all the incoming assignments and still improve our service even more is thanks to our employees. We are proud of our team and we are also delighted to welcome our highly experienced new HR Manager, Cornelia Jost. On Duty Accente Sets New Standards for Café Bars Design, Ergonomics and Goods Presentation in Focus Cornelia Jost 04 took over in March 2013 as the new manager of the HR Department at Accente Services. Ms. Jost holds a two-fold law degree with a major in labour law. After graduating, she gathered a wealth of professional experience in internationally active companies where she cemented her reputation as a highly skilled human resources manager. She then moved on to positions in the banking and travel industries before taking on the HR management of several hotels, most recently setting up the HR Department at the Jumeirah Hotel in Frankfurt. Along with implementing all of the administration duties and designing the associated processes at Jumeirah, she was additionally responsible for the recruitment and training of the entire staff. Ms. Jost is now eagerly tackling the new challenges presented at Accente with our extensive portfolio and diverse range of events. Some of her priorities here include optimising administrative processes related to our numerous employees and increasing the quality of our service even more. Her agenda also includes setting up our E-recruiting facilities and promoting Accente’s quality as an employer. While Ms. Jost lives in Frankfurt with her husband, she loves spending her free time in the natural surroundings of her native Rhine District with its magnificent views of the Rhine River and the local vineyards. Her interest in other peoples and cultures often takes her abroad on holidays to exotic countries, preferably far from the accustomed tourist centres. Accente Gastronomie Service GmbH has opened three new café bars featuring a brand new design in Hall 9 at Messe Frankfurt. These newly designed sales points feature a layout that is especially bright and open, boasting a minimalist, light architectural approach. The sophisticated materials and warm colour tones underscore their friendly, cosy atmosphere. Their special master stroke is that from one central bar customers can be served at two counters positioned opposite one another. The open design makes the bars easily visible and their broad sales areas are well-lit to ensure ideal presentation of the products. Over 50 years of convention experience flowed into this new shop design, which features the latest trends in terms of technology and sales promotion. The efficient equipment is discreetly integrated into the background, highlighting the products. LED screens display the product range and the work spaces have been planned with optimum ergonomic features. The clear product presentation provides an easy overview for customers. The sleek display cases are each stocked with small quantities of the individual articles, ensuring a more diverse product range and constant freshness. The fronts of the new café bars offer guests raised landings with contemporary tables and benches to sit and relax, while high tables with stools are positioned in front of the counter for guests to enjoy their food seated or standing. Rockin‘ the Festhalle Accente Catering at the PRG LEA 2013 Some 1,300 guests from the German domestic and international music, event and entertainment scene traversed the red carpet and gathered for a fantastic atmosphere full of glamour at the eighth celebration of the PRG Live Entertainment Awards this past April 9th at the Festhalle Frankfurt. The awards ceremony also signalled the official opening of the Frankfurt Musikmesse and the simultaneous “Prolight + Sound” conventions. A total of 15 of these highly coveted prizes were awarded to the winning event promoters, artist managers, concert agencies and operators of venues and clubs. The prestigious list of award presenters featured world boxing champion and politician Vitali Klitschko along with German market celebrities including comedian Matze Knop, rock band Silly, singers Anna Maria Kaufmann and Christina Stürmer. The LEA trophies were designed as stylised concert tickets cast in bronze. The LEA principle of “Guaranteed without Playback” was in full effect for the entertainment programme at the ceremony and the live performances covered a broad stylistic spectrum ranging from rock to classical, musical to circus and singer-songwriter to comedy. The stage show included innovative new 3D laser effects and premiered a writing water wall at the front edge of the stage which impressed the gathering of German celebrities on hand including the Scorpions, Alfred Biolek, Hugo Egon Balder, Doro Pesch, Susan Atwell and Kai and Thorsten Wingenfelder (“Fury In The Slaughterhouse”, “w:”). And while the guests were certainly served up the best in entertainment, they were also served outstanding Accente Services catering consisting of the very best in fingerfood, exquisitely prepared and presented to also “rock the house”. An army of friendly service employees passed constantly through the Festhalle offering sparkling wine, juices, selected wines and delicious snacks including nachos, mini spring rolls, mini cabanossi sausages, sushi and more. The selection of foods and beverages was as diverse as the show, with every guest sure to find a personal favourite. The Deutsche Live Entertainment Prize award ceremony has been held annually since 2006, and has repeatedly chosen Accente Gastronomie Service GmbH as its official catering partner for the event. Kap Europa Takes Shape Sustainable Catering for a Sustainable Congress Center The project partners of the Kap Europa Congress Center celebrated a roofing ceremony to commemorate the completion of the facility’s shell in Frankfurt’s Europaviertel district. Construction of Kap Europa is being conducted simultaneously with that of the neighbouring Skyline Plaza shopping centre. Kap Europa is set to go into operation for the summer of 2014. Kap Europa represents an expansion of the Messe Frankfurt’s space for congresses, conferences and events. Messe Frankfurt Executive Director Uwe Behm explains the expansion of the Messe’s capacities saying, “This move is necessary for us to offer more in our portfolio to meet the growing congress and conference business needs of our customers”. In the recordbreaking year of 2012, Congress Frankfurt welcomed 112,000 participants, an increase of 13 percent over the previous year. Spread over four event floors, Kap Europa will house one hall for 1,000 persons, one hall for 600 persons which can be partitioned and twelve additional conference rooms. With the Congress Center on the Messe site as the ideal venue for large events with greater space needs, Kap Europa will cover the need for plenary halls and numerous smaller spaces. The building is being built in a manner designed to meet the highest level of sustainability demands in terms of its construction and operation. Thanks to its high ecological standards, even in its construction phase Kap Europa has already been awarded preliminary Gold certification by the DGNB (German Association for Sustainable Construction). Mr. Behm comments, “A congress building in the public space where it is seen by the public serves a special role model function in terms of construction and operation that is ecologically and socially responsible. At Messe Frankfurt, our aim is to build one of the most sustainable congress centres throughout the world”. Accente Gastronomie Service GmbH supports this same trailblazing strategy in the catering sector. We are constantly optimising the ecological footprint of the company by purchasing our products in the local region, avoiding the creation of unnecessary rubbish and using energy more efficiently. Sustainable catering requires seamless traceability of the products, a regional supplier structure and sensitivity regarding production, transport and the presentation of the foods and beverages. We inspect all of our processes on the basis of these criteria and minimise our resource needs. Socially responsible products like “Fair Trade” coffees and organically produced raw materials and ingredients are always our priority. 06 Frank von Kolczynski, Angela Capasso Summer in Sachsenhausen After what seemed like an endless winter stretching into spring, summer has finally arrived and “Biergartens” everywhere are filling up with guests. One of the most beautiful summer terraces in Frankfurt can be found in front of the Depot 1899 restaurant in Sachsenhausen, where over 200 guests can find space to eat, drink and people-watch. The sunny spots on the terrace are already popular from midday. This is the perfect meeting spot for lunch, or later on for a coffee and delicious slice of cake. In the lounge area of the beer garden, visitors relax on spacious sofas and enjoy the end of the workday with a beer, Aperol Spritz or Hugo. Hot days are followed by hot nights, and in the evening the Depot becomes a popular event location. The special atmosphere of the historic streetcar depot makes every event unique right from the start for dance floor parties, TV Sundays or public viewing of sporting events in the Large Hall. The appealing mix of tradition and the contemporary is magnified by the inimitable design of Depot 1899’s open, roomy interior featuring a restaurant area, a large bar and a cosy lounge. The Large Hall is located at the rear of the building and can be partitioned to accommodate smaller events. The upper floor consists of a half-floor which almost seems to float suspended in the air. It features its own bar with a view of the Immer noch ein Hit in der Sommersaison: Der „Hugo“ goings-on below on the ground floor. While the Hall is used for conferences, meetings or dancing, the upper floor is available for catering. Depot 1899’s multitude of possible uses has firmly established this location as a venue for company events. Guests and company customers are in the best of hands with Operations Manager Frank von Kolczynski and Assistant Manager Angela Capasso. Aged 34, Mr. von Kolczynski is a certified hotelier who previously held numerous positions at hotels in Germany and abroad, most recently serving as the Catering Manager at Staatstheater Mainz before taking over supervision of the operative duties at Depot 1899 in Frankfurt’s Textorstrasse in July of 2012. Ms. Capasso has been a member of the Depot team since it opened. A true “Sachsenhausen girl” born and raised in the area, 30-year-old sports enthusiast Ms. Capasso is a certified system gastronomy expert who advanced into the management team in 2012. Both young managers feel called to their professions and are delighted to be running things at this popular location in one of Frankfurt’s trendiest districts.
