Yours sincerely Tony Rizzo tony rizzo f ounder of sanrizz inspire , moti vate and reach per f ection Despite 35 years experience and enviable success at the top of his game,T ony R izzo remains intri g uin g ly modest about his achievements and his phenomenal contribution to the industry. Recognised the world over, as one of British hairdressing’s best, Tony’s primary job is managing director of the everdeveloping Sanrizz Empire. But, a relentless passion to progress the hairdressing industry sees his time splintered to accommodate show and seminar work, international exhibition appearances, photo shoots, the Sanrizz Academy and education development. Not forgetting of course his extraordinary 33 years of devotion to Alternative Hair, notorious for its awesome creativity and mammoth fund raising in excess of nearly 10 milion pounds for Leukaemia Research. Energetic, engaging and an irrepressible optimist filled to the brim with Mediterranean flair, equalled by a classic Italian temperament, Tony says his success is down to sheer hard unremitting intent to succeed, to be the best. Hence the advancement of the innovative Sanrizz cutting and styling techniques which deliver the characteristic Sanrizz stamp of distinction. Definitive styles that are vibrant, precise, polished and perfect. “N o matter what lev el o f ex perience or how success f ul your business , it is paramount to continue dev elopin g skills , new concepts and f resh techniques” S H A RON COX SANR IZZ INT E R NAT I ONA L ED U C AT ION DI R EC T OR Sharon Cox is a perf ect e x ample o f the pro g ressi v e career opportunities the company o f f ers . hailing f rom manchester Sharon joined Sanrizz in 19 9 3 as a g raduate stylist. “I first became aware of Sanrizz when I saw the art team present a show at the Wella Academy; I was totally impressed with their work and the way they all seemed to be having such fun on stage,” explains Sharon. “So when I saw a Sanrizz recruitment advert in Hairdresser’s Journal, I applied, hoping for a successful career and a future travelling the world with the company.” Sharon’s ambition was quickly realised and a year after working in the Knightsbridge salon, her teaching skills were quickly recognised and she was promoted to Knightsbridge Academy educator, from where her show work took her to Europe, Asia and beyond. “In the 22 years I’ve worked for Sanrizz I’ve learnt an incredible amount and experienced so much on so many levels,” says Sharon. “From photographic work, putting on shows, handling international audiences – it’s been an amazing learning curve. Working for Sanrizz brings out the best in you, driving you to always do better.” Promoted to Educational Director nine years ago Sharon’s passion for teaching burns as brightly as ever. “We’ve trained thousands of hairdressers over the years and it still gives me a thrill to see people develop their skills, creativity and personality,” says Sharon. “I have an instinctive love of hairdressing and revel in teaching and cultivating the next generation of hairdressers. It’s hugely satisfying and I learn lots from the students too; I love the ‘give and take process.” Sharon also works in the Sanrizz St. Albans salon two days a week to ensure the company’s education courses evolve in line with market trends and salon hairdresser and client expectations. “This is really important as it allows me to get to grips with what’s happening in the salons and connects me to younger people coming through. I get a real understanding of their needs and how they are best inspired in a teaching context.” leonardo rizzo SANR IZZ INT E R NAT I ONA L creative DIR E C T OR L eonardo R izzo has achie v ed more in 17 years o f e x perience than most salon professionals attain in a lif etime. H e is the international Creative Director of the Sanrizz salon g roup and looks after a burgeoning clientele in the company’ s f lagship salon . Being born into a hairdressing dynasty and being exposed to the hairdressing world from an early age has given Leonardoa firm foundation for success. “I wanted to be a hairdresser from as early as I can recall,” says Leonardo. “Being surrounded by the business since Iwas a toddler made me incredibly comfortable in the salon environment, it’s like my second home. I was about 15 when I started working as a Saturday boy in the Knightsbridge salon, going on to be trained by Sharon Cox, now our International Education Director.” Hairdressing wasn’t Leonardo’s only study; whilst training to be a hairdresser he simultaneously did a Business and Spanish degree at Queen Mary’s University in London. “It was a four year course and I fitted in my hairdressing training at weekends and on holidays alongside doing my degree,” explains Leonardo, clearly not shy of hard work and dedication. Blessed with a good ear for languages, Leonardo is fluent in Italian and Spanish with French not far behind. It’s a gift much appreciated by the international audience at Sanrizz shows. “Luckily for me, I spent a long, hot summer working and training in Spain alongside the famous Luis LIongueras. Apart from perfecting my Spanish, it gave me a fantastic insight to a very different way of working with hair.” Returning to the UK and having worked in Sanrizz Covent Garden salon for six months, 2003 saw Leonardo open the Sanrizz salon in Guildford, where he now works three or four days a week managing his team. He also looks after his celebrity and media clients in the company’s flagship Knightsbridge salon. Admitting to cutting as his forte Leonardo also loves to let his creativity run riot with avant-garde work, a passion which comes into its own when preparing Sanrizz Alternative Hair Show models. His skill in this complex area of specialist work is confirmed by Leonardo twice being a finalist in the Avant-Garde category of the British Hairdressing Awards. Leonardo has also had the role of Global Ambassador for professional hair brands including Indola Professional. “My job with Indola was to create the company’s brand image and drive brand awareness. I was responsible for all imagery and international work. Our photo shoots took place in Hamburg and I’ve travelled to China and across the whole of Europe presenting stage shows, seminars and hands-on training.” Leonardo joined the Wella Insights Tour presenting in Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester & Ireland in February 2015 as part of the Sanrizz Creative Team. When asked about his long term goal, “To be recognised in our industry as someone who stands out would be nice,” Leonardo says, “But, to be known as a man who made a difference would be even better.” rudi rizzo SANR IZZ creative stylist Rudi R izzo is the young e R son o f the S anrizz salon g roup owner , T ony R izzo , and is already creatin g a name f or himself within the g lobal hairdressin g industry. Rudi studied Sociology and Criminology at the University of Brighton and continued to attend Sanrizz Academy in the time he had available until he graduated and eagerly indulged in learning the family specialism of hairdressing. ‘Being part of the family business wasn’t an option for me, it was my direction’ says Rudi. ‘Working with hair in various capacities has interested me from an early age learning firstly from my father and then my brother’. His enthusiastic and dedicated character has seen him rise through the ranks of the family dynasty to become Creative Stylist, with a growing clientele whilst also delivering education at Sanrizz Academy in central London. He has worked globally on Sanrizz shows and has shot international campaigns with his brother, Leonardo. In late August 2014 he launched the Sanrizz Network Japan with a gruelling schedule of shows across the country. Rudi is also delighted to have joined Wella’s new EIMI Style Team. T he S E C R E T to making A salon team e x ceptional The question is : Is there actually a proven way to invigorate your business and multiply the results you get from your team right now? and the answer is YES. Continuous learning , training and team dev elopment The best strategy in almost every case of business and professional success is to spend time with a role model/mentor/coach, someone who is already getting the results you want and to tap into their knowledge. Learn what they are doing, what their core beliefs are and how they think and work with their clients. Not only will this make you more effective, it will also save you a huge amount of time by adopting their systems and methodology. You won’t have to reinvent the wheel, you can fine tune their approach, reshape it to suit your individual and business needs and perhaps make improvements upon their routines. What is mentoring? Sanrizz defines mentoring as: ‘The process by which you follow in the path of an individual who is achieving the hairdressing results and skills you desire, who can pass on knowledge, experience and hairdressing expertise. The Sanrizz education team provides a world of hairdressing experience and skills you can tap into. Having an educator personally coach you can help you: • Grow your knowledge and learn from their experiences, hairdressing methods and systems • Maximise your potential – identify your strengths and weaknesses • Identify development needs and how to meet them • Create a training action plan to help you succeed By utilising the techniques and systems we will share with you , you can dramatically change your performance. We will provide you with many new tools, techniques, concepts, action plans and remind you how to be proactive in what you already know.
