For the last 33 years, a largely untold story
has been happening -- members of the
law enforcement community have been
going above and beyond the call of duty
for the most marginalized citizens in their
communities, and volunteering together
for acceptance and inclusion on behalf of
people with intellectual disabilities – the
athletes of Special Olympics.

Torch Arrival Celebrations
2015 is the beginning of a true partnership between Centennial Bank, Law Enforcement Torch Run for
Special Olympics Arkansas and Special Olympics Arkansas. We will make this Statewide Partnership with
Centennial Bank official in 2015 with Torch Arrival Celebrations across the state May 18-21. Torch Arrival
Celebrations will be held to bring heightened awareness of the entire partnership.
Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Arkansas begins in 12 locations across the state and runs
into the Special Olympics Arkansas Summer Games Opening Ceremonies on the Thursday of Summer
Games each year. Law Enforcement officers run the torch every step of the way.

Four Corners Torch Celebration
Starting at the four corners of the state and traveling hundreds of miles the Torch Run event is
the highlight of the year for Law Enforcement officers and cities across the state. Beginning on
May 18th the “Flame of Hope” torches are lit and are carried by officers and athletes throughout
select cities representing the Guardians of the Flame. All week Law enforcement agencies hand
off the torch as they work their way towards Central Arkansas.
On Wednesday, May 20th all 4 torches and their runners will converge into the State Capital at the
Arkansas Law Enforcement Officers Memorial to present their flames to the Final Leg Torch.
Our Keynote speaker for this event will be Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.
Law Enforcement Officers and their families from across the state are invited to participate
in this event. Please join us as we make our ceremonial approach into the State Capitol

Torch departs the Capitol and runs down Capitol Avenue to Broadway Street and turns left
to East Markham then turns right on East Markham to Scott St. then left onto the Main St.
bridge and across the bridge to North Little Rock
The Torch arrives at the north end of the Main Street Bridge and is passed to the North
Little Rock PD. Torch continues north on Main Street to JFK,. Stop in St Luke's Episcopal
Church 4106 JFK Blvd. Group breaks off and main group continues down JFK

torch continues to Kiehl Ave. Turn right on Kiehl and proceeds to Indianhead. Turn left on
Indianhead to Shoshoni, left to Oneida, right to West Main.

The Special Olympics Arkansas Summer Games are held each year
at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. The event brings together
over 2,000 athletes and 500 coaches from across the state. Our
largest event of the year, Summer Games features competition in
aquatics, athletics,
bocce, unified
bocce, flag
football,
golf, powerlifting and team softball. Every race, every game, every
competition held at Summer Games represents many weeks of
training, preparation and dedication on the part of our
athletes, coaches, and volunteers.
