Introduction
As a young and vibrant alumni in its infancy
SEA UAE has introspected over the past,
and embarked on the pursuit of its vision of
becoming the best alumni in the United Arab
Emirates with an objective to promote harmony
and friendship among KVGCE alumni.
Our Alumni newsletter is presented to you with
interesting and useful insights of events in the
lives of our fraternity and their achievements.
The name Payaswini was the obvious choice,
when we were seeking out a name to christen
the news letter after all what better way to
reach out to our alumni, who not only serve as
the memory of the best we have been, but also
as the hope for the best we can be.
Kurunji Venkataramana Gowda is from a remote
village; when he was young his little heart thrilled
to acquire knowledge. But the village did not have
any resources to fulfill his wish. Completing primary education, he stepped into agriculture like
all other children of his place. The vast farmlands
paved his way to neighboring townships and cities for trading agricultural goods. He started the
learning of life from those journeys. The foresight
and hidden passion for knowledge laid the foundation stone for Academy of Liberal Education in
1967. Decades later, in 1986, KVG College of Engineering added one more feather to AOLE.
For Internal Circulation Only
For Sullians the term Payaswini is a kind of
“nostalgia”, which you would love to freeze
in time. The river Payaswini acts as a mirror.
It displays all that is above it. It reflects the
current peaceful mood, beauty and seasonal
wardrobe of mother nature. As a mirror,
Payaswini, symbolizes , “Us” and “Energy”,
taking one back to one’s roots, ever flowing ,
ever growing, ever imparting .

difference to the lives of the members. This is a
fledgling initiative and one in which I hope you all
will contribute equally. Do send in your suggestions

Message from President
Dear Fellow SEA-UAE Alumni,
I am honored and privileged to serve as
your SEA-UAE Chapter President for the
period 2012-2014. As President, I am committed to maintaining the established partnership with our alma mater and developing new and innovative services that meet
the needs of our global alumni base.
Let us not forget that being a part of this
chapter brings with it responsibilities that
we return some of the positive vigor that
it had charged us while we were still students. There are now other students,
looking forward to live through the stories about previous times that are being
passed on through generations by their
peers. To make this a continuing and stable tradition, we need to support KVGEC
by promoting its image, preserving its values and contributing in any way possible
towards its development.

SEA UAE members were requested to help contribute towards financial aid to Naveen’s treatment and contributions were accepted up till
10th February, 2012. On 12th February, 2012,
a total amount of AED 25,625/- (Rs. 3, 43,530)
was transferred to SEA –Bangalore, who is following up with Naveen’s treatment in India.
Naveen, a 95 batch alumnus of KVG College of
Engineering, has a heart-wrenching story. For
more than five years, Naveen has been bedridden, and is being treated for many problems. For
the last one and a half years, he has been undergoing dialysis, as his kidneys are no longer
functioning.
We believe this will benefit Naveen in his treatment, and will be a big support to his family and
friends. We wish him a speedy recovery.
The lower part of his body is paralyzed, and he
has lost mobility in his legs. Currently he is being
treated by Dr. Manjunath Shetty, in Bangalore.
