The 2015 SBWS Annual Juried Show will open with a reception
on Sunday May 24. The entries are to be delivered on Monday
May 18 between 9 and 11 am.
The location is the Lexus Service Center located at 24777 Crenshaw Blvd. in Torrance.
You are urged to enter the show as 15 awards will be presented
and it is likely that all entries will be accepted, unless they exceed the venue’s wall capacity.
The juror will be James Wisnowski.
The National Watercolor Society is accepting entries for the Annual
Member Exhibition from March 1-31. Prospectus is at
www.nationalwatercolorsociety.com.
Be sure to bring a painng to the meeng for the Popular Vote
Compeon.
Ribbons will be awarded for First, Second and Third places.

Rosemary Bandes will be the May 11 Demonstrator
Rosemary Bandes’s work has been shown throughout Southern California, including the Palos Verdes Art Center (Juried AllMedia Show, Small Treasures, and Artists’ Studio), Arena One/
Hangar Gallery, VIVA Gallery, Orlando Gallery, Burbank Art Center, Valley Jewish Community Center L.A. Municipal Art Gallery
(Open Exhibition), and TAG Gallery (California Open Exhibition.)
She studied at Otis Art Institute,
West Los Angeles College, Emerson Adult School and Palos
Verdes Art Center. She also studied with Brian Wilkinson (“Brino”) and Charles Knecht. Some of her
mentors are Frank Minuto, Dael Patton, Bonita Helmer and Gloria
Lee. She is a founder and board member of Destination: Art in
Torrance. She is also member of Women Painters West, Pacific
Art Guild, Experimental Artists of the South Bay, and International
Society of Experimental Artists.
March Demonstration
Annie Clavel held a hands-on workshop for
about thirty people in attendance. Annie
demonstrated painting on Yupo “paper”.
She likes to use an angled brush and QOR
(Golden) paints, a new line of watercolors
that offer color strength, range and versatility. Annie demonstrated painting wet-intowet, using Kleenex, brushes, credit cards,
items to move the paint. Paint can easily be
removed from the Yupo paper. When done,
fixative should be applied to the painting.
