Here it has its Technical and Commercial Offices and a Production Unit where cars, sliding and swing doors are built, in both normal and fire-proof versions, as well as all those components needing steel machining, such as cutting, folding and punching. Other components are produced in external workshops that have been carefully selected to ensure that they guarantee max reliability; also the control boards - designed by TECNO - are built by a firm specialising in this field and are equipped with complete pre-wiring including the shaft lines. The TECNO project manager activates the CCS - Coordination and Control System – for the various jobs in order to analyse each decision and to prevent any possible problems from arising while works are being carried out. The deflection, calculated under a load of 5000 N/m2, is less than 1/750 of the distance between the supports. Oil-tight welded steel sheet (thickness 4,0 mm) is acting as full-lenght oil collector tray and soffit. The escalator external sides are not cladded. The truss rests on supports at either end which are provided by the customer in accordance with Tecno instructions. Elastic supports are provided at the truss ends to avoid direct transmission of vibration. 2 - DRIVE UNIT The drive unit is located at the upper end of the escalator. The drive is produced by a special type escalator squirrel cage type A.C. motor, switched on StarDelta.The motor is protected by all-round protection. Motor protection rating : IP 55 Insulation class :F The motor is attached to a worm type reduction gear - a helical gear. The drive is transmitted from the motor/reduction gear unit to the step drive unit through a multiplelink roller chain. The breakage load for this easily satisfies the required safety factors. The escalator has a fail-safe electro-mechanical brake for smooth stopping action. In case of vertical rises exceeding 6 m, further to the service brake, on emergency brake is supplied. 3 - STEPS Dimensions: Depth 400 mm Width 1000, 800, 600 mm The steps are of distortion resistant design, made of high-tensile, die-cast aluminium. The cleating of the tread plates guarantee a perfect fit in the combplates at either ends of the escalator. The step risers are also cleated vertically so that the cleats in the riser of one step fit into the grooves on the tread plate of the next step. Each steps is provided with two rollers with encased seales-for-life ball bearings. The steps are interchangeable and are fixed to the chain axles in such a way that they can be removed quickly and easily without having to dismount the chains and skirting. In order to ensure safe entry onto and exit from the escalator, two steps run horizontally at both the top and bottom ends. 4 - STEP CHAINS The step chains of the precision roller type are made of hardened and tempered material, with hardened and ground pins. Each escalator has two chains, one on either side of the step, driven by a couple of wheels on the drive shaft in the top section of the escalator. These are balanced by a second pair of wheels on the transmission shaft in the bottom section of the escalator (the step return idler sprockets). 5 - CHAIN TENSIONING DEVICE The chain tensioning device is easily accessible at the lower end of the escalator after lifting off the floor covering. The tensioning shaft rests on both sides and runs along special guides fixed directly to the frame of the escalator. Two loaded springs, that can be adjusted by means of tie-rods, guarantee the constant tension of the step chains. Electrical contacts check the excessive extension or breaking of the step chains. 6 - COMBS AND COMB-PLATES The combs are made of special cast aluminium and are standard elements permanently fixed to the combplates. The combs enter the grooves in the step tread plates and guarantee a perfect fit. The combplates consist of a metal plate covered in non-slip stainless steel with safety switches that interrupt the movement of the escalator in the event that any foreign bodies get caught between the step and the combplates. TECNOLOGIA NELL’ELEVAZIONE ESCALATORS TECNO ® TSL-TLL The handrails are made of black rubber moulding with internal canvas and rayon layers for extra strength. Each handrail is driven by a pulley timed with the speed of the steps. The drive pulleys are housed in the top section of the escalator and are directly driven by the step chain drive unit via a roller chain. The guides running along the entire length of the escalator are formed from a special steel profile. The handrail tensioning device is also found in the top section of the escalator near the drive pulleys. The points at which the handrail enters and leaves the balustrade are carefully protected. Electrical contacts stop the escalator immediately any foreign body is detected. 8 - BALUSTRADES The balustrades are made from panels of safety clear glass (10 mm thick) laid vertically and without the need for supports. The joints between the panels are vertically to the handrail.The panels are positioned flush with each other, thus doing away with the need for masking. The inner and the outer decking balustrades, near the skirting, are made in stainless steel profiles (TSL type) or in silver anodized aluminium profiles (TLL type). 9 - SKIRTING The skirtings are rigid and made from dentresistant stainless steel sheets with a smooth surface facing the steps. 10 - OUTER CLADDING The two sides and the soffit of the escalator may, at extra cost, be encased in pressed steel panels, treated with a primer. The panels may alternatively be obtained from stainless steel or other materials chosen by the customer. 11 - ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT The control cabinet is installed in the top end of the escalator and is made of steel plate, protection rating IP 54. It can be rolled out from its seat for both front and back easy inspection. In addition to the main switch with its magnetothermal protection, the control cabinet also contains the following equipments: (design modification reserved) - up/down travelling remote switches; a maintenance operation relay; a brake relay; a transformer; safety switches; full motor speed control and protection against accidental movement inversion of the escalator. The maintenance area at either end of the escalator is equipped with: - a socket outlet for connecting a hand-held lamp; - a socket outlet for connecting the maintenance push-button panel (when this is inserted, all other controls are excluded); - a control circuit switch. The safety switches are in series and normally open. The deflection, calculated under a load of 5000 N/m2, is less than 1/750 of the distance between the supports. Oil-tight welded steel sheet (thickness 4 mm) is acting as full-lenght oil collector tray and soffit. The passenger conveyor external sides are not cladded. The truss rests on supports at either end which are provided by the customer in accordance with Tecno instructions. Elastic supports are provided at the truss ends to avoid direct transmission of vibration. 2 - DRIVE UNIT The drive unit is located at the upper end of the passenger conveyor. The drive is produced by a special type passenger conveyor squirrel cage type A.C. motor switched on Star-Delta. The motor is protected by all-round protection. Motor protection rating : IP 55 Insulation class : F The motor is attached to a worm type reduction gear - a helical gear. The drive is transmitted from the motor/reduction gear unit to the pallet drive unit through a multiple-link roller chain. The breakage load for this easily satisfies the required safety factors. TECNO ® ASCENSORI PER EDIFICI STORICI LIFTS FOR HISTORICAL BUILDINGS Recently, the market has started to propose lift systems without the conventional machine room and these have been met with immediate interest from designers due to the undeniable advantages they offer: no need for large amounts of space (generally on top). But these entail various problems, provided they're even possible. Tecno has developed its own solution for this problem, one that eliminates virtually all the defects that this solution involves. Defects that we list below as an invitation for designers to consider using "roomless" solutions only where really necessary, without it becoming a fashion. Defects characterising the roomless lifts proposed by the market: -The hoist machine must be placed in the head, after the last stop, on one side of the lift. In this position, noise and especially vibrations are transmitted to the wall of the building next to the machine on the last floor, no matter how much insulation there is, and these are usually the most refined and expensive suites (it may even be a bedroom!). -The hoist system requires lift cables twice the usual length, making for a more marked "yo yo" effect, i.e. that feeling of elasticity due to the stretching of the cables with each acceleration and deceleration. -The special hoist solution makes it impossible to have cars with access on two adjacent sides. -The conventional "manual manouvre" used to free people accidentally trapped inside the lift IS NOT POSSIBLE, but is replaced by a system that uses batteries with all the problems these entail. The roomless cable lift developed by Tecno solves all these problems, apart from the matter of cable "elasticity". More specifically, the machine can be placed on any side of the shaft (apart from the door side of course) and on any floor, meaning that you can even place it below, where noise and vibrations generally generate far fewer problems. Finally, the emergency "manual manouvre" is done in the usual way by accessing the machine via an inspection door in line with the machine. HYDRAULIC MACHINEROOMLESS LIFTS The technical solution developed by Tecno for hydraulic systems where the machine room needs to be eliminated involves the use of a particularly compact metal cabinet (see technical drawings) housing the switchboard, the hydraulic gearcase and all other standard components.This cabinet (with the appropriate vents to get rid of any fumes) can be positioned on any floor, even if not necessarily adjacent to the shaft. SELF-BEARING STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS FOR A STANDARD LIFT Self-bearing metal structure for lifts made from bent sheet metal standards, cross-section 120x120x4 mm and bent sheet metal cross beam, cross-section 100x46 mm, one every 1.50 m. The use of open profiles makes for fast detection of any rust spots and thus more efficient maintenance. The structure is assembled using special highstrength bolts, thus avoiding the need for welding during installation; also supplied with anchor brackets. Hence the need for a specific production line for these, to guarantee the precise and strength of both the car and the entire structure. TECNO does not adapt a normal lift for this purpose, but has a specific product offering all the qualities of strength and reliability demanded of such elevators. Moreover, TECNO focuses much attention on the doors, that on goods lifts are expected to offer the maximum span possible to allow for easy loading and unloading of goods. To this end, a special type of horizontally sliding closure has been developed that, combined with the landing doors, always lets one have a span equal to the width of the car itself, even if the lift shaft is particularly narrow. TECNO ® MONTACARICHI GOODS LIFTS La particolare situazione ambientale richiede a volte il ricorso ad elevatori antideflagranti. Ad esempio, nelle aziende petrolchimiche, o in quelle che trattano gas volatili altamente infiammabili, le normative impongono l'utilizzo di elevatori dotati di particolari accorgimenti atti ad eliminare in ogni situazione, il rischio di scintille e di conseguenza il rischio di scoppi accidentali. TECNO ha sviluppato elevatori (ascensori e montacarichi) che utilizzanio questa tecnologia sia nel vano di corsa che nel locale macchine. Normalmente infatti, anche per una questione di economicita', si propende ad installare apparecchiature speciali solo nel vano di corsa, mentre il locale macchine viene difeso immettendo nello stesso dell'aria non a rischio pressurizzata. In tal modo, le sostanze a rischio di esplosione, non possono entrare in contatto con apparecchiature in grado di emettere scintille e, qualora per qualsiasi motivo dovesse venire a mancare la pressurizzazione, automaticamente il funzionamento dell'elevatore verrebbe ad essere bolccato. Vi sono pero' delle situazioni in cui non e' possibile trovare aria non a rischio nelle vicinanze per poter pressurizzare il locale macchine; in questo caso TECNO puo' fornire anche tutte le apparecchiature del locale macchine quali il gruppo argano, il quadro di manovra etc. con gradi di protezione ADPE (Antideflagrante). For instance, in oil companies or those that deal with highly flammable volatile gases, safety standards require that only lifts with special measures are used to avoid the risk of sparks and thus accidental explosions under all conditions. TECNO has developed lifts (for people and goods) that use this technology in both the lift shaft and the machine room. In fact, also as a result of a question of cost, the trend is to install special equipment in the lift shaft only, while the machine room is defended by filling this with safe pressurised air. This way, explosive substances cannot enter the equipment that may generate sparks and should the pressure drop for any reason, the lift is automatically stopped. There are, however, certain situations where it's not possible to have a nearby supply of safe air to pressurise the machine room. In this case, TECNO can also suply all the machine room equipment, such as the winch unit, the control box etc., with ADPE (explosion-proof) protection factors.
