1 EDI SOURCE: CASE STUDY GARDEN OF LIFE “The oracle integration with EDI/HQ™ was easy, thanks to the intuitive mapping software.” — Kyndall O’Neill, Senior Oracle Support Specialist, Garden of Life COMPANY OVERVIEW Location: Palm Beach Gardens, FL Industry: Consumer Packaged Goods Employee growth: 150-200 employees Product types: Nutritional Supplements Annual estimated sales growth: $5 Million to $150 Million in revenue Trading partner growth: 12 EDI Software: EDI/HQ from 1 EDI Source, Inc. EDI used to make up one-quarter of Garden of Life was forced to achieve electronic data interchange (EDI) compliance with key customers including Vitamin Shoppe and Whole Foods. They already had Oracle e-business suite (EBS) in place, but needed an EDI solution that would help achieve compliance quickly, as well as provide the infrastructure needed for business growth. And, to achieve longer term goals, Garden of Life wanted to build their internal skill set to be self-sufficient in efficiently setting up trading partners and automating processes. SOLUTION Wanting a solution that would enhance their current Oracle ERP, after vetting three vendors they choose EDI/HQ from 1 EDI Source, Inc. to not only comply with trading partners, but to also deliver heightened visibility where ERP process steps often become disconnected. EDI/HQ provides them with an easy-to-use tool to build business rules into the EDI maps to help fully automate processes. To integrate, Garden of Life used Oracle’s XML Gateway. However not all exchanges are supported through XLM Gateway, such as 3PL documents. That’s where EDI/HQ’s designed flexibility provided Garden of Life the ability to fully automate all documents that needed to exchange. Although 1 EDI Source did help them implement its first trading partner, they did achieve their goal of becoming self-sufficient and were able to implement the remaining trading partners (and all associated business rules) themselves, only counting on 1 EDI Source for special projects, like their current disaster recovery initiative. orders, now it’s up to three-quarters. RESULTS Not having to enter data manually Garden of Life was able to quickly resolve EDI compliance requirements and found great value in process automation—quickly automating the order to invoice process for all trading partners. has saved them significant time.” — Kyndall O’Neill, Senior Oracle Support Specialist, Garden of Life The ‘manage by exception’ capabilities of EDI/HQ allow them to maintain low error rates and keep the IT team focused on value-added technology initiatives.
