CHAMBER NEWS— JULY 2016
3
What can you get for a couple of bucks? Be entertained for thirty minutes with your family and
friends. Then, ending the day with a full heart, and appreciating the generosity of our community
and businesses. The Fourth of July Fireworks, put on by the Madras Sparklers could not be a
better entertainment value anywhere based on the production cost divided by the number of
adults in our community.
Mike Ahern, Mr. Sparkler himself, has been orchestrating the Fireworks display since 1981,
reaching out with the annual donation/sponsorship requests to fund this great Patriotic visual
celebration. THANK YOU to the many businesses that have contributed large donations along
with a huge list of individuals donating $5, $10, $20, $50 and $200 amounts every year.
The budget based on the anticipated donations for the Fireworks Display has been static over many years and the
cost for the production has incrementally increased every year. This visual entertainment enjoyed by all, needs
additional contributors to maintain and preferably enhance the show and/or the length.
If you have enjoyed the past shows, consider showing your appreciation by investing in the annual Fourth of July
event. Contributing $2-$5 for every family member and friend watching the Fireworks Monday night has great
entertainment value and you do not have to travel far to enjoy it. As a business contributor, consider your donation as
a sponsorship, tell your staff of your contribution and that you hope they enjoy the show. It will show your
engagement and that you value their quality of life in our community to invest in it.
As in the past, the Chamber is an easy stop to drop off your donation/sponsorship and the Madras Sparklers can
continue to present a Fourth of July Fireworks Display worthy of your expectations.
HAVE A SAFE FOURTH OF JULY!
“Chamber’s Wandering Mystery Camera Clip”…
See last month’s Clip on Page 7 in Member Spotlight.
Congratulations to David McCourtney with Midland Realty for the lucky draw of the Mystery Camera Clip in the June
Newsletter. Good Luck to you in your quest of finding the Mystery Clip in this month’s issue.
The “Wandering Mystery Camera Clip” will be a picture of part of a member’s business, or a place, which will be
located somewhere in or close to Jefferson County. We may or may not, give a hint each time, where
the business or place is located. Our purpose is that you are more aware of what and where our
member businesses are located. When you look at the photo in the newsletter and recognize the
place of business, call us with the name and
location of the business or place featured.
The first 10 caller’s names will be put in a pot &
the winner will be drawn from those names for the
free business card ad in next month’s Newsletter.
We will announce the winner in our next month’s
newsletter.
Our “Wandering Mystery Camera Clip”
business this month is a place you should
take time to look for the beautiful things
to make a home more comfortable....hmmm???

owners in the area.
The Desert Inn is now open 7 days a week and 364 days a year. We are open
on all Holidays including Christmas and Thanksgiving for those who have no family
