Employee Spotlight President’s Column Chairman’s Report from Annual Meeting New DCCU Location Coming to Central Staunton Board of Directors Updates Pat relocated to Woodstock, VA from Illinois after the passing of her mother. She had fallen in love with the Shenandoah Valley years prior, after visiting her longtime friend who resides here. She most appreciates the mountains, picturesque views, sprawling landscapes, and the quiet – a far cry from the congested Chicago suburb where she spent the greater part of her years. The overwhelming response was DCCU. “Step by step, I am remodeling this house from top to bottom,” Pat says. So far, she has remodeled her kitchen, rebuilt the porch, added a half bath on the lower level, and enclosed the sun porch. “The revolving nature of my home equity line of credit has allowed me to move from project to project without a lot of headache,” she says. “I can easily access the funds as my renovation progresses. As I pay down the loan, I can re-borrow as needed for the next project.” Next in her plan is the construction of a new master suite on the lower level. “I am confident that these improvements will allow me to comfortably live in my home for a long time and enjoy all that my new community has to offer,” she says. Pat appreciates how DCCU’s Woodstock team really knows the community and makes an effort to get to know their members. “I visit the branch often and they are always a tremendous help in answering my questions and keeping things moving,” she says. “They are a friendly group that treats me like an old friend when I come in.” Although she left many friends in Illinois, Pat feels that this was a good move for her. She has quickly become acclimated to the Woodstock community, is enjoying the modern updates to her home, and has made many friends, including her new DCCU family. “These improvements will allow me to comfortably live in my home for a long time.” — Pat Employee Spotlight January 1, 2016 – March 31, 2016 Years of Service 30 Years – Shane Showker 20 Years – Cheyenne Bridge 20 Years – Heather May 15 Years – Sandy Griffin Promotions Denna Baraclough Application Support Manager Jodie Bishop Human Resources Coordinator Hannah Bower Home Equity Specialist Brieanna Coffey Mortgage Representative Mindy Mawyer Mortgage Representative Josh Trombley Network Infrastructure Manager Buck Windsor Assistant Branch Manager, Woodstock By the Numbers February 2015 Assets$974,878,290 Savings$829,614,601 Loans$701,939,077 Members70,320 February 2016 Assets$1,029,379,643 Savings$880,942,375 Loans$776,508,351 Members77,320 Information current as of 03/2016 and is subject to change. Member Matters is a publication of DuPont Community Credit Union, serving the central Shenandoah Valley with 12 locations in Harrisonburg, Lexington, Staunton, Stuarts Draft, Verona, Waynesboro, and Woodstock. Personal Service is Our Focus A message from DCCU’s President/CEO Gerald B. Hershey One of the many ways DCCU differentiates itself from other financial institutions is our genuine commitment to offering the membership our absolute best. Our locations span from Lexington to Woodstock, and each branch is unique, but there is one unifying thread – personal service. I wanted to take this opportunity to share more about our business decision to evolve our service model by transitioning our branches to a layout that best supports this service commitment. Layout To date, half of our locations showcase our new branch layout. These include all three Harrisonburg locations, along with Verona, Stuarts Draft, and Lexington. The open layout in these branches is welcoming – from a staff member greeting you as you enter, to coffee and bottled water while you wait. The teller line barriers have also been removed, allowing our members to meet with their Member Advisor and conveniently discuss their account needs side-by-side in an engaging, collaborative way. We believe that this environment affords our members a better, more dynamic service experience. Security Your account security continues to be a top priority. While the service islands are different from the traditional teller line format, rest assured that your information is safe. Our monitors are equipped with security screens that prevent others from viewing your account information as they move about in the branch. In addition, the service islands provide more than double the distance between members when compared to the traditional teller lines. Each service island is also equipped with a divider between the two stations for additional privacy and security while you transact your business. Staff Development In the same way that we are committed to enhancing our service through improvements to our facilities, we are highly committed to our staff – our most important asset. Transitioning to this banking model provides our employees with more opportunities to grow professionally because they are trained to handle a variety of transactions – from basic to complex. Our employees embrace our service philosophy and strive to make each member interaction a positive one. For the sake of improving the financial health of our community, we remain focused on meeting the evolving needs of our members through personal service and are committed to this approach. We will continue to use sound judgment and be good stewards of credit union resources as we invest in our staff and our facilities so that all DCCU locations are optimized for personalized member-focused service. Thank you for choosing DCCU to be your trusted financial partner and for your continued support of our cooperative. 2016 Board of Directors News & Updates Congratulations to incumbents Daniel L. Bowman and Leslie E. Ramsey on their re-election to the DCCU Board of Directors. Both volunteers will serve as a director for a three-year term. Michael P. Blinn was also elected to the Board and will serve as a director for a three-year term. DCCU Announces Plans for New Central Staunton Location This Spring, DuPont Community Credit Union will break ground on a new, 4,450-square-foot location in downtown Staunton. The new facility will be located on the corner of Augusta and Pump Streets, across from the Staunton Fire Station, and is expected to open in early 2017. The Central Staunton Member Center will replace DCCU’s Terry Court branch located on North Augusta Street. Artist’s Rendering “This new location reflects DCCU’s ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of our members,” said Steve Elkins, DCCU’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “We are looking forward to expanding our financial cooperative to downtown Staunton.” 2015 Chairman’s Report DCCU’s Annual Meeting was held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 and Board Chairman Everett Campbell, Jr. presented the following reflection of 2015: DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) experienced another positive year in 2015.
