These students are required to adhere to strict guidelines and stressful environments to achieve a valued real-world experience. Students were trained in day-to-day operations to handle dangerous atmospheres, as well as tense situations during costly downtime operations at each sponsoring facility. He currently serves as the Vice President of Scholarship for the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and is a member of the IT Club, LGBTQ Coalition, and Baptist Campus Ministries. Franco is active in his community through participation in his church choir, helping with the youth group, and volunteering to make science kits for elementary school children. His goal is to develop a company that will bring valuable products or services to people. Franco wants a computer-related job and to become a job creator, not a job taker. He believes that knowledge isn’t power, the application of knowledge is power. His GPA is 3.7. SARA COBLE – is a General Studies major from Lacey’s Spring, Alabama. She is an active member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, as well as the Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society. She was selected as Most Outstanding Student for Speech in 2015 and has had several entries published in Calhoun’s Muse publication. Sara is active in her community through her involvement in her church. She assists in the toddler nursery every week and helps with Vacation Bible School each year. Sara’s goal is to complete her education at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and become an accountant in the medical field. She would like to help a doctor or dentist to manage their business finances. Her GPA is 4.0. BROOKLYN MAE DODDS – is a Nursing/General Education major from Owens Cross Roads, Alabama. She serves as a Calhoun Warhawk and as President of the Student Government Association at the Huntsville campus. Brooklyn serves her community through volunteering as a cheer coach for Upward Sports. Her goal is to complete the nursing program at Calhoun and eventually her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She would like to utilize her nursing skills traveling the world as a missionary nurse and eventually become a nurse practitioner. Brooklyn would also like to teach other aspiring nurses. Her GPA is 4.0. SARAH BETH EVERETT – is a General Studies major from Grant, Alabama. She is one of four students nominated to the All USA Academic Team this year. She serves as Vice President of Scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa and is a member of Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Societies. Sarah Beth serves her community through volunteering with the Red Cross and the Alabama Spay/Neuter Action Clinic. Her goal is to eventually complete her degree in marketing from The University of Alabama and seek a job in the corporate world. Her GPA is 4.0. KAESHIER J. FERNANDEZ – is a Psychology major from Madison, Alabama. He is one of four students nominated to the All USA Academic Team this year. He serves as Vice President of Leadership for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and is a member of the LGBTQ Coalition. Kaeshier is also the recipient of the Guistwhite Scholarship, which is one of highest national honors a student can receive. He serves his community through volunteering as a youth coach for soccer and baseball. His goal is to obtain a degree in psychology in order to help LGBT youth to grow into confident adults. His GPA is 3.9. 16 CALHOUN COMMUNITY COLLEGE MARISSA ALANA LUCENTO – is a Chemistry major from Madison, Alabama. She has served as a Calhoun Warhawk and is a member of both the Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Societies. She is also a Senator for Calhoun’s Student Government Association. Marissa serves her community through volunteering as a piano instructor for the local community outreach program that teaches inner-city Huntsville youth. Her goal is to obtain her degree in chemistry and do research in the field. Marissa would ultimately like to help others by becoming a Pharmacist. Her GPA is 3.8. SHELBY MILLER – is a Nursing/General Studies major from New Market, Alabama. She is a member of Calhoun’s Lady Warhawks Softball Team, as well as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She also serves as a representative for the Student Government Association. Shelby serves her community through volunteering with summer daycare and tutoring students at her local high school in the subject of science. Her goal is to eventually complete her nursing degree form UA Huntsville and eventually become a Nurse Practitioner. Her GPA is 4.0. VERONICA MOSS – is a Business Administration major from Toney, Alabama. She serves as an officer of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and has served as a tutor for Calhoun’s Fast Track Tutoring Mentor program. Veronica serves her community through volunteering with the Huntsville Police Department at local events such as “Police National Night Out.” Her goal is to continue her education at Athens State University, eventually obtain her master’s degree, and someday manage a Costa Rican restaurant. Her GPA is 3.6. RAVEEN PATTERSON – is a General Studies/Business major from Huntsville, Alabama. She is a member of the Black Student Alliance, as well as both the Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Societies. Raveen serves her community through volunteering at various events such as blood drives and walk/run races. Her goal is to continue her education at UA Huntsville. Her desire is to obtain her master’s degree in business, with a focus on human resources, and work for a large corporation one day. Her GPA is 3.9. ANNA-MARGARET SPARKS – is a General Studies/Nursing major from Decatur, Alabama. She currently serves as the Communications Officer for the Calhoun Warhawks. She is a member of both the Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Societies. Anna-Margaret serves her community through volunteering with local scholarship programs and reading to first graders at the local elementary school. Her goal is to complete her nursing degree from UA Huntsville and work in the field of orthopedic surgery, labor and delivery, or oncology. Her GPA is 3.8. MARNIE TABOR – is a Biology major from Decatur, Alabama. She serves as the Vice President of Leadership for the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and serves as Chapter President of the Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Society. She is also one of four students nominated to the All USA Academic Team this year. She serves her community through her work as a worship leader each week at her church. Marnie’s goal is to obtain her bachelor’s degree in biology from Athens State University and one day, move to Dauphin Island and work in the field of marine science. Her GPA is 4.0.
