Ontario Spring Bear Hunt for 1 Hunter for 4 days
Peter Martin of Kapriver Outfitters of Kapuskasing has donated a 4 day Ontario Spring Bear Hunt in May
or June 2015 with lodging included. Kapriver Outfitters has recently purchased 3 new BMA’s (Bear Management Areas) covering a total of 3000sq.km. Kapuskasing area is renowned for it’s huge bears – a 714pound bear was taken last season by a woman hunter with a bow.
The hunt will be over bait or spot and stalk with bow and/or rifle.
Included: lodging during the hunt.
Not included: meals or the local transportation which the hunter must provide to the bait sites that he will be shown.
The hunter must also provide a valid bear hunting licence.
Black Bear hunting is an exercise in stealth and patience. You are hunting
an animal that can smell 700 times better than a Bloodhound. The more
invisible you become the greater chance you have at a big trophy bear.
The big older bears are smart and have a much better sense of smell than
younger bears. Seasoned bear hunters who are fanatical about stealth
find more success. Black Bear hunting is a lot of fun, especially for first
timers.

Japanese Sika in Czech Repubic 5 days, 6 nights for 1 hunter
The western part of the province of Bohemia in the Czech Republic from the cities of Plzen to Karlovy Vary boasts a very high population of
Japanese sika. During the rut from early October to about the 25 th of October it is not unusual to see up to 8 to 10 sika stags and 80 or
more hinds in a day. The hunting area is located near the charming spa city of Marianske Lazne (Marienbad). The accommodation is in a
small village pub on the edge of the hunting area. The rooms are basic but clean with ensuite bathrooms. The pub serves very traditional
Czech cuisine. A hunter and his guide can be hunting within a 15 minute drive. The hunting is done from traditional high seats but also spotting and stalking plus calling. The sika hunting season is from August 16 to December 31 but sika stags are nocturnal appearing only in
daylight during the rut. That is the best time to hunt them. Hunters enjoy virtually 100 percent hunter success on mature stags. There is a
very good chance of a CIC bronze medal stag and a decent chance for silver medal. Gold medal stags occur but are not common.
DATES OF HUNT: The hunt could be taken in 2015 or 2016. For 2015, the hunter must be in Prague airport on October 3 where he will be
met and transferred to the “Dog and Cat” Pub close to the city of Marianske Lazne. During the 2015 dates, Jerome Knap of Almonte will be
hunting at the same time. The hunter could sightsee in the Czech Republic either before or after the sika hunt. Jerome Knap will be returning to Ottawa on Friday the 9th of October. During the October 2016 dates (similar to the 2015 dates), Ottawa Valley SCI board member
Doug Dolan will be hunting sika. His wife Jennifer is coming as a non-hunter. They also plan to spend time in Prague for a few days of
sightseeing.
COST OF HUNT: 5 day, 6 night 1x1 hunt is $3,850 US which includes the sika stag.
THE COST INCLUDES: Services of a professional guide with his own vehicle on 1x1 basis with two outings per day one for a morning hunt
and one for the evening hunt; all transfers during the hunt; 6 nights accommodation at “Cat and Dog Pub” based on double occupancy with
breakfast only; field preparation of trophies; trophy treatment certificate issued by the Czech Department of Forestry; daily consultation with
an interpreter; transfer to and from Prague airport.
THE COST EXCLUDES: Travel arrangements to Prague; hunting licence and liability insurance currently at $220 US per hunter; trophy
fees for optional game such as second sika: gratuities to guides; lunches and dinners; alcoholic, carbonated beverages or coffee and tea;
items of a personal nature; packing and crating of trophies for shipment; shipment of trophies to the client or his taxidermist ( we recommend
that clients take their antlers home with them and capes will be sent when they are dry); services of a personal professional interpreter if
requested; firearms import permit (if you wish to bring your own rifle) currently at $25 US and is obtained at the Airport Police Office in Prague; rental of firearms with ammunition at $20 US per day. The non-hunter rate is $100 US per day.

5 Day Wolf Hunt in Northern Ontario
Grey wolves (sometimes called timber wolves) are extremely shy and difficult to hunt at the best of times. Unlike bear hunting, sitting over a bait expecting to shoot a wolf is extremely difficult. Over the last 20 years, Peter
Martin of Kapriver Outfitters has developed a unique hunting system that produces results.
Located in Kapuskasing,Ontario, Peter and his guides have spent years scouting thousands of miles of bush
country in pursuit of the “Ghost of the North”. This unique hunting experience usually takes place in the winter
months of December through March when the snow is deep. There are numerous bait sites widely scattered
throughout the region in some of the finest wolf country in northern Ontario. A typical day begins by checking
bait sites on ATVs and/or snow machines. If a bait site has been hit, the guide may try to attract the animal by
predator calling. If that fails, he will run the perimeter of that site and if the wolf or the wolves are bedded down
within the block, the guide will place the hunters in strategic positions to await the “Drive”. A tracker will then
track the animal on snowshoes, find his bed and the chase is on. The wolves may try to elude the tracker and
break towards the hunters. The anticipation of being on the stand and waiting for the most elusive of game animals to appear before you will give you
an unbelievable adrenaline rush.
The package includes all accommodation, meals and local transport. All
hunters must provide a valid wolf hunting licence.
The hunt must be taken in early 2016.
Value: $ 2,500 plus GST
