Dear Parents,
Firstly, I would like to congratulate Mr Brendan Ryan on being appointed
Principal of Mt St Patrick Primary School from 2014. I have no doubt that the
school will continue to flourish under his leadership!! I would also like to
congratulate Mrs Carolyn Waugh who has been appointed to the position of
Acting Assistant Principal for 2014. Mrs Waugh is both an experienced and highly
competent educator who will bring a great deal to the school through this
appointment. Congratulations - Brendan & Carolyn!!
Unfortunately our school Disco had to be cancelled. Whilst I can appreciate there
were a number of very disappointed students, at all times the safety of students is
paramount and with the threat of impending storms we were advised not to go
ahead with the disco.
On a brighter note, last Saturday the Parish Tableau was held on the school
grounds. The Tableau was a wonderful success and a true reflection of the vibrancy
and enthusiasm of our school community.
Such an event takes a great deal of planning and organisation. I would like to thank
all of those who assisted with the Saturday morning setting up and those who
attended the Sunday morning “pack” up. The response to both was fantastic which
meant it was all done in a few hours. Also a big thank you to those parents who
volunteered to run the various stalls and those who worked behind the scenes in
repairing costumes, picking up items, making deliveries etc. Specifically I would
like to thank Paul Leslight who convened this years carnival. His commitment to
the process, hard work and enthusiasm not only enabled the carnival to go ahead
this year, but was instrumental in its overall success. A FANTASTIC job, thank
you Paul!!To the staff at Mt St Patrick Primary who gave numerous hours
preparing the students for the tableau, organising costumes and props, getting
“dunked” and working behind the scenes on the night, on behalf of the school
community I say thank you! In particular to Mrs Jade Dixon who coordinated the
schools involvement, a BIG thank you and congratulations!
Finally to all those who attended and joined in on the night, especially our students,
without your attendance and participation the night would not have been as
successful. Thank you for your support.
Best Wishes,
Brian Laybutt (Principal)

ADVENT
SACRED HEART PARISH
Advent is the season right before Christmas when, as Christians, we can prepare our hearts to celebrate the coming of
Christ. Because the date of Christmas changes according to
the calendar, so does Advent. This year the Advent 2013
season begins on December 1st, the first Sunday of Advent.
During the Advent season it is a time to prepare for Christmas. Begin now to gather the things you need to direct your
family's hearts toward heaven. Let this season of Advent fill
your home and your life.
THE PRESENTATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
The Entry of the Most Holy into the Temple (its name in the
East), is a liturgical feast celebrated by the Roman Catholic, Eastern Catholic, and Orthodox Churches on 21st November. According to that text, Mary’s parents, Joachim
and Anne, who had been childless, received a heavenly
message that they would bear a child. In thanksgiving for
the gift of their daughter, they brought her, when still a
child, to the Temple in Jerusalem to consecrate her to
God.

VIRTUE OF THE WEEK- PATIENCE
Patience is quiet hope and expectation based on trust that, in the end
everything will be right. Patience means waiting. It is enduring a delay
or troublesome situation without complaining.
It means having self-control because you can’t control the way someone else is acting or when things don’t go as you’d like. Patience is
being calm and tolerant when difficult things happen.
Patience is persevering- sticking with something for as long as it
takes to finish it. When you are patient, you know that things take
time, just as a seed you plant will someday grow into a flower or a
