Inside the back door of MBSEF you’ll find a ski rack and a set of shelves for everything. Please follow the instructions on the signs. The office opens at 7:30 AM. At 2:15 coaches load the skis and bags in the vans. Clothing bags will be put in the vans destined for each school so kids can change in the van. Skis will generally all be loaded on one van as we don’t need those until we all get to the mountain. You can use your own ski bags to bring skis without ski bags. We will put loose skis in big “community bags” for transporting to and from the mountain. You really should have ski straps for the skis. We always have homemade straps around the office that we made from bike inner tubes. Saturday –Sunday - Van leaves MBSEF at 9 AM except for race days. On days with races at Mt. Bachelor the van leaves earlier. If you drive meet the team at the Nordic Center in the basement at 9:45 AM. Van returns at approximately 12:30. On weekend storm days we do not leave earlier. We leave at 9. If the drive takes an hour then we ski at 10:15. If we all leave town at about the same time, no one will be waiting, no one will be making panic calls to the coaches, and no one will be late. Use Team Stuff to: Confirm school pick-ups on a daily basis. Confirm weekend and holidays when you’ll be skiing. For daily skiing accept a workout so we know to pick up your skier. For weekends and holidays use it so we can plan coaching and progressions. Set up an account that you and your skier share. On a daily basis confirm or decline training. This will ensure we never miss a pick up and ensure we don’t send coaches to schools with no skiers coming on a given day The App is free for iOS and Android. https://teamstuff.com/join/mbsefxc/3f86e788 is the web site. Please “Like” us. 1st TUESDAY WE WILL NOT SKI. We will do dryland training at Skyline Park. Have running shoes, clothes for the weather, water, etc. This gives us one day as a dry run for school pick ups. We will be back to MBSEF by 5:30 because we are just in town. MBSEF Parking: When you pick up at MBSEF, please park on the street. We have so many skiers now that if we all try to use th]e MBSEF lot, we will have gridlock. Camps And Specials Included in the program fees: o Thanksgiving Camp. Nov. 23-25 o Christmas Camp, Dec. 26-28 Other Camps and Specials o Elk Lake overnight, TBD o Memorial Day Camp o Fire and Ice Camp Cell Phones: The coaches carry cell phones when we train. However, we don’t answer calls while training. If you have an emergency and you really need to reach us while we’re training, call back immediately. If our phone rings repeatedly we know it’s a parent and reason significant enough to interrupt things. We are also OK with kids carrying their phones as long as they are only used for emergencies. Ski Care and Wax Clinic: The coaches will hold a ski care and wax clinic following training on the first Wednesday and Thursday of skiing. Parent’s and skiers are welcome. This is a basic session for those of you who are pretty new to caring for equipment. We also stay at the office for an hour after training every Tuesdays to allow kids to work on skis. This is another opportunity to help skiers and parents learn to care for equipment. Watching Your Kids: Parents are welcome to hang around and watch all our sessions. In fact, if you hang around enough you might get put to work. We ask for two things if you are there, don’t interfere with or distract the group. Mt. Bachelor Opening: Mt. Bachelor will open the Nordic Center as soon as they have the snow to groom. They will not wait for the alpine hill to open. After our first day of Middle School, we will announce by email if we plan to ski or dryland on a daily basis. Water Bottles and Water Bottle Carriers: The kids need water and a pre and post skiing snack. It’s really good if they have a little pack to carry their water bottle. But don’t overdo it. They need to carry ONE water bottle. They don’t need a backpack carrier or a multi-bottle carrier. We typically ski for about 90 minutes and one water bottle is enough while skiing. A second bottle for the drive home can be left in their pack. When we do bigger and longer things we’ll arrange to have additional water available. Equipment: Sunnyside needs team orders ASAP. For those of you that signed up recently, a Team Sales program is available to MBSEF skiers from Sunnyside and Webskis. Webski has already processed their order so your only choice is Sunnyside. Sunnyside is placing their last order Monday so if you are missing things, you need to do it now. Names on everything. Especially on the outside of backpacks. It also helps for have the school name on your pack. Season Passes: Please get to the Mt. Bachelor office to get your season pass ASAP. Let’s try to avoid having kids without passes which ties up coaches. If you don’t have a season pass daily passes are $8. The Mt. Bachelor season pass office is directly above the MBSEF office. Race Days: On days when we have races at Mt. Bachelor, the vans leave MBSEF at 8AM and still return around Noon. Racing is optional. We have coaching for non-racers. Be Prepared: It might be the greatest lesson from this program. Correct skis, boots, poles for skating or classic Dry shirt, hat, socks for after practice, Snack, Extra water, More food! The unprepared impact the experience for the whole group. Attendance: Use Team Stuff to let us know regarding attendance. Yes, you can make up missed days, just email Dan and use team stuff so we can plan coaching and transportation. Racing: We encourage racing as part of their development, but no one is required to race. We will do fun races, time trials, and racing games during training sessions. Racing is a great opportunity to travel and grow. Our racing is pretty low key. There are fun races and some more serious races. We can help you chose racing opportunities that are appropriate.
