Walk-In
Come in and see us!
Do I have to sign up ahead of time to use
online registration?
Yes! You will also need your family PIN
number, as well as a client ID for each
individual member of your family, which
will be provided once you set up your
account. We have information and much
more on the city of Northglenn’s website at
www.northglenn.org. Look for the link
to online registration “RecXpress Sign Up”
or our direct link at www.northglenn.
org/recxpress.
What can I do with RecXpress?
You can use the RecXpress site to register for
classes, make a payment, look up transaction
history and check your account balance.
Is your system secure?
We have taken many steps to ensure the
security of your transaction, including
adopting industry standards. RecXpress
employs 128-bit encryption, the highest
form of encryption available to the public.
Are there programs that are not available
through RecXpress?
Yes. In these cases, registration in person is
required. However, you will still be able to
view the details online. In this guide the classes
with a class code indicate online registration
availability. Please call 303.450.8800 for
further information.
I am a non-resident. Can I use RecXpress?
Yes. The registration process is the same for
both residents and non-residents. However,
non-resident fees and registration times may
be different from resident fees and registration
times.
I don’t feel comfortable using a credit card
over the Internet. Can I still register with
RecXpress?
Yes. If you already have a credit on your
account, that credit can be used toward
payment for registration. The credit must
be large enough to cover the full amount of
the class, otherwise, a credit card will need
to be used to pay the difference. You may
add credit to your account by going to the
Recreation Center. RecXpress does use a variety
of security measures to maintain the safety of
your personal information.
Note: Payment in full for registrations
for RecXpress is required to successfully
complete the transaction.

their arthritis. It is a wonderful first-time aerobic class for anyone just starting an exercise
program. People with multiple or severe joint
problems or who have had joint surgery are
encouraged to check with their doctors about
the need for special precautions. A swim lift
is available. It is not necessary to know how

Northglenn Aquatics Lesson Program Schedules on pages 10-13
The City of Northglenn, in conjunction with The American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim, has updated the program in 2015. It features a
progressive multi-level instructional approach to maximize participant success and includes the most curent biomechanics and stroke
descriptions for the front crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, back crawl, sidestroke, butterfly, starts and turns, and new diving
progressions. Along with Learn-to-Swim are Parent and Child Aquatics courses, revised to emphasize safety skills for both parents and
children, and the three Preschool Aquatics courses to specifically address the developmental needs of young children. The preschool
program remains the same with class titles but the Youth Program for ages 6-12 no longer has fish titles. The levels will range from 1-6.
Adult/Teen classes begin at age 13 and older.
Parent/Tot
Ages 6 months -3 years
One adult per child in the water
This class is designed to educate parents on
how to teach basic water adjustment for
their infants or toddlers who have no water
experience. This class does not teach children
to be accomplished swimmers or to survive
in the water. Diapers are NOT allowed.
Infants must wear swim diapers or plastic
pants under swimsuits. T-shirts are allowed
for warmth.
Youth Program
Ages 6-12
Adult/Teen
Level 1
Adult/Teen classes are designed to
meet the student at their level, whether
they are looking for stroke refinement or just
to gain confidence with basic water skills. The
instructor will work with each student individually to help accomplish individual goals.
Ages 13 and Older
Beginners
This class teaches basic swimming skills and
strokes. It also expands and develops skills
previously learned in the pre-school swim
classes. Skills emphasized: Submerge independently, unsupported kicks and streamline
on front and back, independent swimming
basic front crawl while blowing bubbles.
Level 2
Pre-School Program
Ages 3-5
Starfish
Beginners
This class teaches basic water adjustment.
Emphasis is on holding breath, submerging,
and comfort with instructor. Introduces

and encourages more independence and
distance. Skills emphasized: Front crawl
with proper breathing technique (bubblesbreather) to an intermediate level.

This class focuses on improving technique
and endurance on the front crawl, backstroke, and elementary backstroke. Skills
emphasized: Introducing sidestroke kick,
treading water, and diving.
Intermediate
This cass builds and improves skills from
the previous level. New skills are introduced
that require students to be comfortable with
submerging their head and pushing off the
wall independently for a short distance. Most
skills are semi-supported.
Level 4
Angelfish
Advanced
This class teaches breaststroke and focuses
on increasing endurance on strokes already
learned. Skills emphasized: Starts off block
with streamline, open turns, treading water,
and counting yards.
Advanced
The final level of pre-school will review
and expand on all previous levels’ skills.
This class will challenge students to swim
independently for longer distances using a
semi-developed stroke.

Private Outdoor Summer Pool Parties!
Private pool parties in the warm summer evenings are great for celebrating a birthday, team gettogether, or any other special event with family and friends. The facility has locker rooms, covered
picnic tables and outdoor lighting, and includes underwater lights when it gets dark. The toddler pool
is protected with a shade cover, and lifeguards are on duty to supervise the pool and facility. There is a
diving board and slide at the large pool. The facility offers plenty of deck space for your gathering. You
may bring your own food. No alcohol or glass containers.

Northglenn Fusion
Northglenn Fusion Swim Club promotes
the sport of swimming to children and young
adults while also teaching life lessons along
the way. Our goal is to send these swimmers
out to better the world while using swimming
as their guide. We not only want to emphasize
the competitive side of the sport, but also
personal achievement.
There are currently seven levels available for
swimmers to explore their love of swimming,
each emphasizing differing aspects of
competitive sport. Swimmers practice three to
six days per week depending on the level they
are at and attend one to two USA competitive
swim meets per month.

The Drowsy Chaperone
Produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International
Music and Lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison
Book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar
Hailed by New York Magazine as “The Perfect Broadway Musical,” the
Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the
tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre. With the houselights
down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record:
the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes
to life and the Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in chair looks on.
Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a
desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing
as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and an intoxicated chaperone -and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight.

Iyengar Yoga: Iyengar Yoga emphasizes
correct alignment of all parts of the body within
each yoga pose. The precision builds strength,
stamina, balance and flexibility, and a new sense
of well being. Certified Iyengar Yoga teachers can
guide students of all ages and physical conditions
to a yoga experience that is profound, intelligent,

Lunch MAX Burn: Combining weight
room equipment and your high energy this
class will give you a boost to your day. We work
arms, legs, butts and guts with intervals of cardio
throughout the hour. This class is also a great
introduction to the weight room equipment.
NEW! R.I.P.P.E.D.: This total body, high
intensity program utilizes free weights, resistance
and body weight while masterfully combining
the components of R.I.P.P.E.D.: Resistance,
Intervals, Power, Plyometrics and Endurance.
The one-stop, body shock system stimulates
different energy systems and muscle groups in
each workout segment, changing the focus and
activities every 6 to 9 minutes. R.I.P.P.E.D. is
effective, tough and will absolutely challenge
your levels of fitness and endurance!
Targeted Toning: A high/low class with
toning for major muscle groups between sets
of vigorous aerobic activity. The instructor will
target an area of the upper body and an area of
the lower body-returning to them without mercy
between the aerobic sets. A final set of abs at the
end with deep stretches throughout the body
finish up the class.
Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa Flow Yoga links
breath with mindful movement through
many poses, building strength and endurance.
Participants will also notice improved balance,
flexibility, and a deeper understanding of the
body and breath.
Zumba®: Zumba combines high energy
and motivating music with unique moves and
combinations. FUN AND EASY TO DO,
Zumba is a “feel-happy” workout that is great for
both the body and the mind.
Zumba Gold®: For the active older adult at
all fitness levels, Zumba Gold uses your favorite
Zumba songs and slows them down a bit.
Zumba Sentao™: This Zumba workout
takes the thrill of the fitness-party and partners
it with explosive, chair-based choreography to
strengthen, balance and stabilize your core, and
step up your cardio work in a whole new way.
Learn how to use your own body weight to
enhance muscle strength, improve definition and
endurance, and tone your physique. Strut, shake
and shimmy as you work your core (and work
the chair) in a high-energy fitness-party that will
keep you on the edge of your seat!

Elevation
Basketball Academy
Ages 9-14
Do you love playing the game? Do you enjoy
improving and learning the game? Do you
dream of being your best? If so, you will love
every minute of the Elevation Basketball
Academy.
You will elevate your skills to become a different player. A more skilled player! A more
confident player! In every one of our events,
we believe in challenging the way you think
about practice. We want to change the way
you think about skill development and the
way you think about going to camp.
We do this by having you perform the same,
dynamic, cutting edge and innovative drills
used by NCAA and high school players that
we train - but on your level. We break drills
and concepts down so that you can have the
same edge over your competition that they do.
We instill confidence. Director: Galen Harkness

Community Engagement
Volunteers & Active Citizenry
Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer!
Senior Center
Would you like to support your peers by
helping at the information desk, planning
parties and cultural events, or fund raising?
Your wisdom, experience, and joy of living
are welcomed.
Youth Volunteers
Many young people are interested in
contributing to their community. Some
students need volunteer service to meet
school requirements. We welcome youth
and families to group work days and selfguided projects.
Parks and Trails
Do you regularly enjoy a park or a segment
of the Greenway Trail System? Would you
like to “adopt” a flower bed, segment of trail,
or a park? You could also participate with
half-day park work days to clean up, plant,
paint, fix up, etc.
For more information contact
Jenni Murphy at 303.450.8904

Neighborhoods
We know you want your neighborhood to be
safe, clean and friendly. There are many ways
to get more involved including: Helping
neighbors who have physical limitations with
their yard work or snow removal, organizing
a block party to get to know each other,
identifying and recognizing homes that
have well-kept and water wise landscaping,
or becoming a Neighborhood Watch block
captain.
Northglenn Police Department
Your involvement is welcome in
fingerprinting and records, helping with the
Neighborhood Watch program, assisting
victims of crime as an advocate, organizing a
National Night Out gathering, and attending
the Citizens Police Academy to further
your understanding of police functions in
Northglenn.

What gifts of the hands, heart
or head would you like to offer?
We'd love to talk to you.
Northglenn Arts
Are you interested in the arts? Our youth
theatre program needs assistance with tickets/
programs, ushers, costuming, painting,
and set construction. In addition, the
Northglenn Arts & Humanities Foundation
requests assistance with programs such
as Northglenn’s Art on Parade sculpture
program.
Administrative Assistance
We value your administrative skills such as
word processing, data entry, mailings, desk
top publishing, and spreadsheet preparation.
Community Events
Smiling faces and ready hands are needed
to assist with event planning and event
day activities such as the Kids’ Fishing
Derby, July 4th Family Festival, Daddy
Daughter Sweetheart Ball, Mudapalooza
(mud volleyball tournament), and Noel
Northglenn. If you excel in organized chaos
and large groups, this is for you!
Youth Recreation
Your time and commitment to youth pays
valuable rewards. Volunteers are especially
needed to work with our middle school
events such as after-school recreation, and
youth trips and activities. Youth basketball
coaches are also needed.
