Public Meetings—Live and Archived County Public Meetings
Submitted by Casey Murray/PPWA
In 2006, a new digital recording system was connected in the Board of Supervisors’ Chambers, to be used for public meetings.
Granicus, Inc. provides the County with a streaming media system, and thereby improves the access to public meetings. Meetings
are available live on the internet or as searchable archives, which are also used for efficient long-term record keeping. The availability of searchable archives allows a section of a meeting to be retrieved at any time. In addition, documents such as Staff Reports,
Agenda’s, and Minutes are synchronized and linked to the audio archive, all of which are available through the Glenn County website.
Recorded and live broadcast public meetings are accessed on the Glenn County homepage at www.countyofglenn.net and then
clicking the “Listen to Live Meetings” link.
Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, and Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) public meetings are archived
back to 2006. In May 2010, the Regional Transit Committee and Transportation Commission also began utilizing the audio publication and recording equipment for its public meetings.
Over 10,000 people have utilized the system to listen to recordings and/or archives of public meetings as shown on the graph below. The County of Glenn welcomes you to all of the public meetings. The following are regularly scheduled on the following
dates:
Board of Supervisors: First, Third, and Fifth Tuesday of each month
Planning Commission: Third Wednesday of each month
Local Agency Formation Commission: Second Tuesday of each month as needed
Regional Transit Committee and Transportation Commission: Third Thursday of each month

Recycling News—New Picnic tables in Ord Bend Park
Submitted by Jennifer Cannizzaro/PPWA
Pursuant to Public Resources
Code Section 14581(a)(4)(A) of
the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act, the Department of
Recycling Resources and Recovery (CalRecycle) distributes
$10,500,000 annually to eligible
cities and counties specifically
for beverage container recycling
and litter cleanup activities. The
goal of CalRecycle’s beverage
container recycling program is
to reach and maintain an 80 percent recycling rate for all California Refund Value (CRV) beverage containers - aluminum,
glass, plastic and bi-metal.
Each year the cities and county
have participated in the Department of Conservation, Division
of Recycling and Litter Reduction Grant through our Glenn
County Waste Management Regional Agency program.
Funding through the grant has
allowed the jurisdictions to pool
their funds to implement and
promote a coordinated CRV recycling and litter reduction program. Last years grant funds
were used to purchase new recycling receptacles, picnic tables
and benches. The tables and
benches are made from 95%
post consumer contact recycling
plastic (i.e. milk jugs) “Closing
the Recycling Loop’. You can
see these tables and benches at
the Ord Bend Park and various
other sites around the County. If
you have an idea about how to
enhance the area recycling programs, please contact Jennifer
Cannizzaro at 934-6530 or 8652782.
