A Message of Gratitude from Alderman Billy Ocasio On behalf of my office, the Puerto Rican Cultural Center, and the Coordinating Committee of the Fiesta Boricua, let me express my deepest gratitude to the sponsors of the incredibly successful 14th Annual Fiesta Boricua held on Sunday, September 2, 2007. This event, which is now the largest one day Latino Festival in the entire Midwest, drew upwards of 200,000 people. artisanry, as well as, the friendly and overall warm environment which permeated the entire celebration; it was truly a day to remember. Besides the two huge stages on each end of Paseo Boricua, several smaller stages, as well as storefront vendors, offered additional dance and musical performances throughout the day. This year, we began the festival with two religious services and performances sponsored by two of the area’s largest Thousands of families enjoyed the food, the music, the churches. Lizardi Photography by Luis Chavez (Unless otherwise indicated) 12 Musical Legends Roy Brown and Tito Nieves inducted into the Paseo Boricua Walk of Fame Two new star medallions commemorating the legacy and talent of Nueva Trova singer/ songwriter Roy Brown, and Salsa icon singer, Tito Nieves, attracted hundreds of residents to celebrate the new arrivals to Division street. In front of El Quijote Bookstore (2525 W. Division St.) one can find the medallion for Roy Brown, who has devoted himself to singing with a cause for more than thirty years. At the new lounge, Draft (2535 W. Division St.) Tito Nieves was emotional and awestruck as he accepted his medallion and said, “this medallion meant more” for him than a Grammy because “this was coming from the people of this community.” Las Leyendas Musicales Roy Brown y Tito Nieves iniciados en el Paseo de la Fama del Paseo Boricua Dos nuevos medallones de estrellas se estrenaron para conmemorar el legato y talento del cantautor de la Nueva Trova, Roy Brown, y el ícono de la salsa, Tito Nieves. Division St.) se encuentra el medallón para Roy Brown, quien se ha comprometido a cantar para las causas justas por más que treinta años. En el nuevo bar Draft (2535 W.
