trendwatching?

international students during this minor?
Trend experts are needed more and more
because trends and their implementation play
a huge role in an ever-changing world! In this
minor you will learn the ins and outs of the
international trendwatching business.
A trend expert is able to translate important
global and local developments and movements
into future visions. They are the starting point
for innovative, creative and commercial viable
opportunities for brands, services, organizations
and companies. A trend expert is able to show
organizations how to stay in touch with their
customers, is able to point to new target groups
and is able to come up with creative ideas for
innovative strategies, products, services and
branded communication campaigns.
You are...
A student suited for this minor is sharp,
inquisitive, has an open mind, is internationally
minded, is analytical, creative, is able to think
conceptual and ‘out of the box’.
Courses
Some of the courses in the program are:
• Project I&II
• Methodology I&II (research)
• Concept Development I&II
• From Trends to Brands
• From Trends to Forecasting
• Innovation
The project will focus on 10 weeks of research
on specific trends such as globalization,
feminization, authenticity and digitalization.
In the second 10 weeks you will work with a
big client to give advise on implementing these
research results within their product.

Therefore, we ask you to read the following
very carefully:
For international students:
You will need to pass the TOEFL test with
80 or IELTS test with 6,0.
Plus, you will need to write a motivation
letter explaining why you chose the minor
Global Trendwatching, how it fits with your
current study and how you can use it in your
future work and life. Max. 1A4, typed.
For Dutch MIC/CO students:
At time of enrollment you will need to have
your Propedeutic diploma and 40 credits
from years 2 and 3.
You will have passed your Propedeutic
English course with a minimum of a 7,0.
After enrollment you will have to write a
motivation letter explaining why you chose
the minor Global Trendwatching, how it fits
with your current study and how you can
use it in your future work and life.
For Dutch HvA students:
At time of enrollment you will need to have
your Propedeutic diploma and 40 credits
from years 2 and 3.
You will have passed your Propedeutic or
2nd year English course with a minimum
of a 7,0. If you don’t have English in your
curriculum, you will have to pass the TOEFL
test with 80 or IELTS test with 6,0 BEFORE
ENROLLMENT. After enrollment you will
have to write a motivation letter explaining
why you chose the minor Global Trend­
watching, how it fits with your current study
and how you can use it in your future work
and life.

2. We will go on a one-week field trip to Berlin
for which you will need to reserve a travel budget of EUR 300. Depending of your origin, make sure that you have the necessary visa for our visit to Germany.
4. (Some) knowledge of marketing, communication and/or entrepreneurship
is a prerequisite.
5. You need to have your own laptop with you, able to handle software like Photoshop and Final Cut like-minded software.
