Chairman Of The Golf Committee’s Salutation TEE–OFF FOR A CAUSE – Sustaining The Endeavors Of The FPI Through The Years By Means Of The FPI Golf Classic Renato R. Ermita As the Federation Of Philippine Industries (FPI) was forged out of the fires of necessity, it has strived to consolidate, establish and assert itself, being the paladin that has exclusively looked after the welfare and interests of the Filipino producers, together with the local manufacturing sector of the country’s economy. Since the establishment of FPI in 1991, the Federation has become very actively involved in major concerns affecting industry such as international trade agreements & unfair trade practices; finance & investments; power/energy & environment; labor, productivity & competitiveness; tariff & taxation; preventive & punitive measures against economic offenses, i.e., anti–smuggling interventions and other relevant issues. Accordingly, the FPI has not only become the “Voice of the Industry” but the champion of it as well, bestowed by no less than Pres. Arroyo herself, during the Federation’s 16TH Annual General Assembly held last August 13, 2007. The Federation believes that it has achieved several milestones because of its strong advocacy work with the unceasing support of its members. And with most of the local companies affected by globalization, FPI is all the more committed to intensify its research and activities on advocacy in order to help retool the domestic business firms towards growth, profitability and global competitiveness. The Federation, in a manner of speaking, not unlike the underlying principle of the game of golf itself, for the past 16 years, has remained true and consistent to the very rationale of its existence. Consequently, synthesizing a sporting competition and a fund raising activity into one exhilarating event makes the truism – “the synergy of work and play for a noble cause, makes Juan dela Cruz a hearty and competitive boy” nowhere more significant than now in the holding of the 6TH FPI Golf Classic Tournament. For that reason, the raison d’être the Golf Classic is held annually is to nurture and enhance FPI’s advocacies, initiatives and activities for the benefit of the local industry and to further strengthen the networking capabilities and camaraderie among the companies, as well as, concertedly meet head-on the challenges similarly confronting Filipino business establishments. In view of the foregoing, on behalf of the Golf Committee, the FPI Board Of Directors and the Federation’s Secretariat, I extend my exuberant acknowledgments to all who have made this meaningful activity possible, namely - the Sponsors, Donors, the Media and the Management Team of the Tagaytay Midlands, composed of Messrs. Jerry C. Tiu & Dan L. Salvador III, President & Golf Director, respectively and Mesdames. Mabel B. Martinez - General Manager & Yasmin G. Cadungog – Sales Director. An excellent fusion of purpose and camaraderie. This is the story behind the new FPI Golf Classic Logo. So we see a man and the Federation’s symbol in equal sizes. With the latter slightly tilted to also creatively represent the golf green. Concord Signing Between The FPI Golf Committee Officers And Autohub Group Management Team Last February 08, 2008 Thus, as the classic sport is a natural extension of FPI’s quest for life, drive for excellence and globally competitive spirit, the FPI Golf Classic Logo also emanates from the Federation’s green and gold emblem – the latter implying that natural resources undergoing the creative hands of man can become gold, the highest standard of commerce. As the fusion of logo elements graphically illustrates “infinity”, it also celebrates FPI’s continuing unity, camaraderie and unending commitment to the advancement of industry and the enhancement of the environment. The Nissan Patrol Super Safari celebrates extraordinary people and will carry on the underlying principle of making a difference in other people’s lives. Tough on the outside and exquisitely supple on the inside, this vehicle embodies the most inspiring of individuals.
