Step 2: Assemble kennel on a level surface. Gather four corner frame rails, two long straight frame rails
and 4 short straight frame rails. Point all swedged (smaller) ends in the same direction (counterclockwise
shown in Figure 1).

Step 3: Connect the bottom frame. Slip swedged (smaller) ends of pipes into the next pipe as shown in
Figue 2.
Step 4: Add the first upright. Gather one upright, two pipe clamps, one medium carriage bolt, one little
hex nut and your or 1/2 inche wrench. With the hex nut up, loosely clamp the upright to the bottom
frame. Let the upright lie on the ground (Figure 3).
Step 5: Add the other upright the same
way with an upright each corner one near
the center of each long side as shown in
Figure 4.
Step 6: Add first rail to the top frame, as shown in Figure 5. Gather one corner frame rail, two clamps,
one medium carriage bolt, one little hex nut and your crescent wrench or 1/2 inch wrench.
Step 7: Start at that top corner. Make the top the same as the bottom frame, pipe by pipe, adding a
clamp at each upright (Figure 6). Tighten clamps enough to keep pipes in position.

Step 8: Check that all uprights are straight up and down, and
then securely tighten all the clamps as shown in Figure 7.
Step 9: Add an upright for the gate. The upright gate can be
put 60cm to either side of any of the upright (figure 8). Do not
have the gate span joint in the frame. The frame can come
apart at the slip joint.
Step 10: Install the gate. Gather two hinges with pin, two large
carriage bolts, two big hex nuts, your hammer and your
crescent wrench (or 9/16 inch wrench).
Note: Gate can open from either side.
Approximately 60cm
Install a hinge, with the hinge pin up, about 25cm up on the
hinge side upright (see figure 9a). Tighten securely.
Install a second hinge, with the hinge pin down, about 25cm
down on the hinge side upright (Figure 9b). Tighten securely.
Gather the gate, two hinges without pins, two large
carriage bolts, two big hex nuts, your hammer and your
crescent wrench (or 9/16 inch wrench). Similarly, install
the gate side hinges, and the gate. See Figure 10.

Gather the gate latch, back plate, “U” bolt, two little hex
nuts and your crescent wrench (or 1/2 inch wrench).
Position the gate latch on the gate at the desired height.
Slip “U” bolt in place, as shown in Figure 11 and position
back plate over threaded end. Attach with hex nuts.
Tighten each nut a little at a time.
Adjust gate post closer or further away from the gate as
required to ensure latch engages.
Step 11: Affixing the Fence Fabric
You are now ready to put on the fence mesh. It isn’t
difficult, but the chain link fabric is strong and stiff, and
the roll is heavy, so a helper is recommended.
Required items: For this step, you will need clips (3 for a
120cm height kennel, 4 for a 180cm height kennel), one
tension bar, and a package of tie wires.
Slip the tension bar into the first loops of the mesh, as
shown in Figure 12.
Connect the fabric to the gate upright by clipping the
tension bar to the upright using 3 for a 120cm height
kennel, 4 for a 180cm height kennel (Figure 13).
Unroll the fabric around the kennel. Loosely add a tie wire
to the top of frame about every 150cm (Figure 14) to
keep the fabric from falling down.
Step 12: Stretch the Fabric
Starting from the first upright away from the gate, use
your hammer to stretch the mesh as shown. Add tie wires
to uprights (3 for 120cm height kennel, 4 for 180cm
height kennel) to hold the fabric stretched. Be sure all
three (or four) tie wires are on the same picket (wire) or
the fabric can go on crooked. Then stretch and tie to the
next upright until you go all the way around. Don’t tie the
last upright (at the gate).

Step 13: Cut the Mesh to fit
Allow at least 12cm for the tension bar, clips and stretching, then “cut” the mesh. Cut the mesh by
holding it loosely while you spin a picket (one of the wire) out.
a) Decide which picket (wire) to remove.
b) Undo the knuckle (loop) at the top and the knuckle or twist at the bottom of that same picket
wire (figure 15b).
c) Unweave that picket by spinning it (Figure 15c).
Warning: wire ends are sharp, so handle carefully.
d) Connect the cut mesh to the gate upright using the tension bar and clips (figure 15d & 15e).
Step 14: Secure the mesh
Beginning at the gate opening, attach a tie wire to every third diamond around the top of the kennel
(figure 16a).
Beginning at the gate opening, attach a tie wire to every third diamond around the bottom of the kennel
(figure 16b).
Note: Attaching tie wires to the bottom is easier if you temporarily raise the bottom of the kennel onto
bricks, blocks of wood or the box the kennel came in.
Step 15: Attaching Spring to the Gate and Kennel
Attach one side of the spring to the upright next to
the gate. Attach the other side of the spring to the
top. The spring will hold the gate in the “closed”
position. (Figure 17)
