FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE
In This Issue...
Dear Parents,
FROM THE
SUPERINTENDENT
Hopefully, the severe winter weather conditions are behind us. The
longer days and slightly warmer temperatures are certainly an
indication that spring is on its way.
FROM THE PRINCIPALS PARCC MAKEUP
TESTING
As you know, we closed school for three days during the months of
January and February. Originally, the school year was planned to end
on Tuesday, June 9. As a result of the decision to close, we will be
making up the three missed days on June 10, 11 and 12.
Your flexibility and understanding with respect to the unpredictable
Chicagoland weather is greatly appreciated. I do believe that making
up the three missed days is important for our children and the
integrity of the school calendar.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
MAPLE P.E.
CURRICULUM NIGHT
Starting next Wednesday, March 18th, all Maple students (Grade 6, 7
and 8) who were absent during their regularly scheduled PARCC
testing will be scheduled to complete the make up exams sometime
during the school day on Wednesday, March 18th, Thursday, March
19th or Friday, March 20th. The schedule of makeup testing will be
finalized on Tuesday, March 17th and students will be notified of
their makeup testing schedule.
You can continue to help your child do his/her best on the makeup
testing by:
1. Making sure, if possible, that your child attends school on the
days of testing
2. Making sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night
before testing
3. Providing breakfast on the mornings of testing
4. Reminding your child to ask the teacher questions if he/she
does not understand the test directions
5. Letting your child know that you have confidence in his/her
ability to do the best he/she can
6. Encouraging your child to do the best he/she can and not to
worry or get anxious about the test.

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
It is imperative that a parent/guardian call or email the health office
by 8:40 am to inform us if a student is coming in late or will be
absent.
If a student needs to be picked up early for an appointment or other
obligation, a note, email or call to the health office by 9:00 am is
required and assists us in locating your student in a timely manner. If
you would like your child to receive a pass out of class so that they
can meet you in the office, it is necessary to communicate this
information to the office by 9:00 am. If you are picking your child up
before lunch, please also send them to the health office that morning
for a pass. If they are leaving after lunch, the pass will be given to
them at lunchtime.
STUDENT DROP OFF IN THE MORNING
Just a reminder - please pull your car forward and to the curb as you
drop off your child in the morning. In addition, please do not stop on
the crosswalk. Please stop before the crosswalk if you are unsure that
there is enough space for your car on the other side. Besides the main
entrance, the athletic doors are also open for your student to enter the
school. You may pull all the way onto the striped lines in front of the
athletic doors. Please pull as far forward as possible to allow cars to
turn in off of Shermer. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our
students and staff safe as they walk to enter the building!
