This fun-filled weekend has been crafted especially for you, the Class of 1966. Reunion is always a thrilling time at Lasell, but this year is particularly significant as we celebrate a new reunion layout in honor of your 50th reunion. The activities will be exciting, but the real joy is found in the time spent reliving your time at Lasell. We would like to thank all of our Reunion Coordinators for their hard work and support. Without them, Reunion 2016 would not be possible. Should you have any further comments or questions, please feel free to ask any staff members present this weekend. Carpenter, a beloved faculty member who taught math at Lasell for 30 years. Carpenter was often left in charge as the preceptress while Dr. Bragdon was away and was referred to as “the Queen of Lasell.” Carpenter House received a full renovation in the summer of 2013 including an upgraded HVAC system, new LED lighting and lowflow water systems. Through the extensive restoration, the house maintained its original stained glass, fireplaces and woodwork. As a result of the renovation, energy and greenhouse gas emissions have been cut in half. The house is now an all-female dorm that houses 25 students. SAUNDERS HOUSE Saunders House, originally called Converse House, was acquired in the mid-1900’s. The house was named after the late Helen Saunders, 1917 graduate and Lasell College Trustee. It holds 21 students and is a coveted residence on campus. There is a piano in the front parlor, stained glass windows, glass work in some rooms and two balconies. The house was built in 1896 and is modeled after the Colonial Revival style. 11 GARDNER HOUSE Gardner House was built in 1883 in the Queen Anne style, an asymmetrical architectural type. It was originally constructed by Frederick Johnson, a prominent leader in Auburndale at the time of Lasell’s first years. Gardner House was acquired as part of the Johnson estate in 1912 and is named after the artist and 1856 graduate Elizabeth Gardner Bouguereau. Bouguereau moved to Paris after studying art at Lasell. While many studios there would not permit women to study, Bouguereau disguised herself as a man. Her diligence was rewarded, as she was the first woman to display her art in the Paris Salon in 1866 and the first woman awarded the Salon Medal. Her piece, The Judgment of Paris, still hangs in Brennan Library. The house has maintained its architecture and exhibits stained glass, wood work and fireplaces. Gardner now houses 37 students, mostly freshman.
