with more than 6 000 titles of all types. The group’s comic strip product is structured around these quality-labels
and covers a broad spectrum of subjects and readers :

2. MANGA
At the end of the eighties, Editions Glénat was the first European publisher of Manga
outside Japan (Akira, Dragon Ball).
Today Editions Glénat publishes almost 200 Mangas a year and remains a very influential
publisher in the French market with series such as One Piece, Bleach, Berserk...
3. BOOKS FOR THE YOUNG
Glénat Editions has a quality-label devoted to illustrated books for the young, from 3-8 years :
P’tit Glénat. This label has already won several awards and his coming up to about
15 new titles per year.
4. FINE BOOKS about Mountains, the Sea and Gastronomy. Our books invite you to discover
the world in all its best diversity. Through our practical guides, our beautiful illustrated books
and our tales of adventure, we want, above all, to examine our world in order to understand it better,
to show its wonders, or to encourage their preservation.
Our upmarket Gastronomique collection concentrates on the great, starred Chefs
(Paul Bocuse, Anne-Sophie Pic...). Glénat’s ambition is to stand out from their competitors
with different books, which are like their chefs. Every chef’s work tells the story of his training,
his tastes, his culinary practices, and gives, of course, all his most outstanding recipes.
Each chef‘s diversity is shown by a layout and format which is always original and refined.

Glenat has brought together a legendary script writer, a well renowned
illustrator and a family which has marked its era with an imprint in
debauchery and blood… and produced Borgia, the “must” of
contemporary comics. The fourth and last volume is now available.
The Borgia family was big news in the 15th century. It gave Italy and the
Christian world two popes with dubious reputations. The Borgias were
accused amongst other things, of poisoning, fratricide and incest...And
have thus become symbols of the decadence of the Church at the end of
the middle ages. Violence, lust manipulation and conspiracy in the
Vatican form the storyline of this historical epic, enriched by the top
quality writing of Jodorowsky and the seduction of Manara’s line work.
This third and penultimate volume prolongs the pleasure of plunging
into the mysteries of a hardly shining Rome, although historically quite
realistic.

June 1960, hoary 60 year old Jos Gloaguen is travelling from Quimper to Paris, where is going to represent the interests of fishermen from

so
ssuch turmoil. For example, there was a national sensation caused by the 1924 strike by cannery workers at Pen Sardines. Jos Gloaguen
kknows full well that the Sardine is the ‘wheat of the Sea and so much so that it’s a passionate business. He retells of his first expedition in
11901 at the age of 12 and how he first fell in love with the sea and then Denise Guilcher, the daughter of a rival family. And how life was
ddifficult, between the sea expeditions, the caprices of the sardines, and the exploitation of the cannery owners.
FFrançois Debois is clearly passionate about the subject and ‘ tells the tale of how these hardy fishing families acquired over time a heroic,

A magisterial philisophical space opera by two huge comic book talents.
On a monochrome planet in the 28th century of the galactic era, humans (classed by their character traits) are organised into groups
such as; spirituality, trade, pleasure, war, work, order, and creativity. This social organisation follows the theories of the psychiatrist Carl
Gustav Jung who believed that in order to eradicate conflict humans needed to be grouped with people who shared their same values.
But in this apparently perfect society the immortal guides, the Segments, are worried, an unfathomable epidemic of sterility is sweeping
the population and there is little time left to find a remedy and save the human race from extinction.
In the courthouse the lazy Loth Lungren and the sensual Jezreel meet before being tried, one for refusing to live a debauched life of sex and
drugs , the other for refusing to return to his garrison.
After being condemned following a Kafkaesque trial the pair try to escape this neurotic galaxy.
Gimenez, the legendary designer of the Castle of the Meta-Barons is again on form as he teams up with one of the most talented writers of his generation, Richard Malka. This
time Malka chooses to reflect the human condition through the prism of science fiction. It is a philosophical, esoterically symbolic piece of work.

The novel tells the fictional story of the Romanian Prince Vibescu Mony.
Vibescu travels from Bucharest to Paris and then on to China. On the way he explores all aspects of sexuality; sadomasochism,

LES OBJETS DU DÉSIR AU JAPON (OBJECTS OF DESIRE IN JAPAN)

Format: 19 x 24,6 cm / One shot / 300 pages (This is not a comic book)
A new journey through Japanese pleasure territory, Japanese objects fascinate the French who buy into “cool culture” with a growing
appetite: miniature zen gardens, USB-SUSHI keys, animated figurines in resin, ‘Hello Kitty’ vibrator. The attraction of “made in
Japan” includes of course eroticism. This work makes a census of the craziest objects taking Japanese aesthetic tradition as much
into consideration as high technology For the first time, here is a work whose aim is to take a census of the craziest objects, being
interested as much in Japanese aesthetic tradition as in its high technology. All these objects are analysed and put into a historical context.
An elegant, indecent, sensual and disturbing toy collection.
L’IMAGINAIRE ÉROTIQUE AU JAPON (EROTIC IMAGINATION IN JAPAN)
Drugstore
Format: 19 x 24,6 cm / One shot / 352 pages (This is not a comic book)
L’imaginaire érotique au Japon offers a decoding of current fantasies, and brings up the exhaustive picture of Japanese morals right back to
their source. In revealing the origin of common or rare obsessions experienced by 127 million people on this archipelago in suspense, shaken
constantly by tremors, this work of art brings out into the open these erotic practices so strange to us, which are put in perspective in a
historical and mythological context. How does one decipher the different facets of eroticism in Japan ? L’imaginaire érotique au Japon – fruit
of ten years of reporting in Japan – is divided into 11 chapters each dealing with a specific point of Japanese eroticism : the obsession with
knickers, a fascination for masks, a taste for women-dolls, the fear of the end of the world, the national feeling about castration, etc.
THE DICTIONARY OF LOVE AND PLEASURE IN JAPAN
Drugstore
Format: 19 x 24,6 cm / One shot / 328 pages (This is not a comic book)
In Japan, every erotic practice – however pointed it may be – has its name, as in martial arts. Geishas gave themselves a reputation by making
new ways of serving drinks fashionable. Warriors perfected sword techniques to which they gave original names. In contemporary Japan, not
a month passes without video film directors creating new words to describe new ways of loving. In Japan, desire crystallises on specific
objects, whose charm revives an often very ancient poem. A particular logic rules the games of love and chance in this country obsessed by
emotion. Using about 300 key words and a multitude of reproductions of works of art, the objective of this work is to decipher the behaviour
of the Japanese, and especially to define Japanese thought and its erotic culture... a culture which goes far beyond the framework of sexuality.

This could be next door to you, or maybe the other side of the world. It’s a suburb like so many others. The King of the Flies is a young
man without background, a little rebellious, a bit of a wheeler-dealer, a little bit obsessed, who spends his time in surroundings where
there is not much to do. And he is not the only one in this situation : the beautiful Sal, provocatively sexual ; Marie, a falsely ingenuous
and bewitching young lady ; Ringo, the ace of the bowling set ; Francis, the new laughing-stock of a father-in-law ; and also Damien,
the ghost who comes back to visit those whom he came across in his daily life, between sex and alcohol... Pulled between boredom,
malaise and disenchantment, they come across each other, move apart and meet up again. Similar to David Lynch’s Blue Velvet, this tells
a daily story from which surge up anxiety and worry, not without a sharply ironic point.

This is a dreamlike Road Movie made off esoteric or even paranormal events. The story is built on flashbacks and goes back and forth
between dream and real life. Luke and his daughter Tweety who drive on America’s roads with no known goal; waiting for an encounter
which will change their lives. It is their encounter with Bill, a cripple in a wheel chair which will settle their journey and destiny. The story
will then be organized around Bill’s (metaphorical ?) quest: looking for a magician able to have his legs - lost during the war - grow back.
Bill’s quest then becomes Luke’s and Tweety’s. They both, in their own way, build up bonds with Bill. The story is constructed around this
quest : encounters, locations and events that arise are interpreted by Bill as “magical” clues indicating which way to go. The destiny of
the characters they meet finds an end at the very moment when Bill seems to have reached his goal.

The son of God returns to Earth but this time it’s not to turn the other cheek
This tale takes place in a time where terrible wars, barbarian acts and catastrophes are the lot of man in the 3rd millennium. God has asked
his son to reveal himself once more to the people to bring them back into his fold. But Jesus does not want to be sacrificed again – he senses
his father is duping him. God has also been struck blind. Disguised as someone or something straight from hell, Jesus wanders amongst the
people, a pauper amongst the poor. He begs for drugs which are the only thing that can dull his anguish at God’s indifference to the children’s
cries. This album could be very disturbing as Mathias Schultheiss questions the bible as well as the intentions of man with black humour,
a direct style and bold colours.

Th is the beautiful story of a Lion who couldn’t write. He’s asking the animal of the jungle to help him write a love letter to the Lioness
This
of whom he is in love. But all the animals write their own love letter, not a Lion love letter. The monkey writes that he wants to
sh
share bananas and the the hippo that he’d like to play in the mud. These are no Lion business. Fortunately, lioness will help the
lilion to learn how to write. This book won the Children Education Prize in 2008.

but true ! If man had run into the path of dinosaurs what would have happened ? Surely it would be an explosive
encounter. Follow a cohabitation and reconciliation that certainly doesn’t pull any punches. Like in a little dark theatre the scene
enc
is sset but will change subtly as the story evolves, men and dinosaurs, little silhouettes abound, crossing and colliding before
learning to love each other. But grumbling volcanoes, falling comets and flooding seas come together before an unexpected
lear
denouement which may explain why the dinosaurs disappeared.

and love don’t mix well. Arno the toad decides to declare his love for the tree frog Linette. It’s not easy to find the
words but there is worse to come! In the swamp, kingdom of frogs and toads, humans have left their little reminders. They
w

ddeclaration ! This is a sweet and “green” story to remind children, with humour, that nature is not a dustbin and we must look

be tremendous ! The problem is that Lady Turkey (it has to be said !) is a “hard nut” and has no intention of allowing herself to be cooked

not being vegetarian ! Christmas is approaching. But what will be on the menu ? Since the most cunning and the most mischievous are
not always the ones to be believed... Led with humour and talent by Nathalie Dargent and Magali Le Huche, here is a Christmas story,

LITERATURE ADAPTATION
The treasure hunt can begin... When the guardian of a lost treasure is... a scarab ! An adaptation
in colour of Edgar Allan Poe’s great classic, full of mysteries. Nothing differentiates this scarab from
others – except that he carries a death’s-head on his back ! And they say that this little insect could
well have a connection with a certain Jean Laffitte, a dreadful French pirate whose treasure has
never been found... This astonishing adventure was lived by old William, in the company of his friend
the famous writer Edgar Allan Poe, who made from it one of the most mysterious tales ever. A tale
which, more than a century and a half after it appeared, still hasn’t the shadow of a wrinkle... Adapted
respectfully and with talent by Jean-Pierre Kerloc’h and Sebastien Mourrain, discover one of the major
master-works of adventure literature.
