In 2014, because of you My child learned to talk, does not cry every day, is growing more confident daily, is losing weight, & getting stronger. “Because of you We hope and dream for our daughter and her success without being reminded of her disabilities.” 2014 Annual Report You put 286 riders in the saddle weekly sessions plus 109 more for students in the saddle on horsemanship field days. He has gained more self-confidence, better coordination, and great friends. When he is at SIRE, he feels like he belongs. You fostered pride in the 59 riders who won 143 awards, including 21 1st-place belt buckles at the 2014 Top Hands Horse Show sponsored by the Houston Rodeo. From our 37 Special Olympics riders, you inspired 56 gold-medal performances. You gave peace to 12 military veterans and their families attending family days at SIRE. SIRE is an approved service site for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Mission Continues. You gave strength to 94% of our riders, improved the outlook for 97%, and gave friends to 88%*. Riding is the one thing that truly motivates my son. He has fallen in love with his horse and I see him telling her secrets when he rides. With your help, 34 therapy horses enabled hundreds of people with special needs to Ride Beyond. You built the future of therapeutic horsemanship, teaching 169 people through SIRE’s Education and Training program and made a difference worldwide. In 2014, SIRE provided services to professionals from South Korea (here and in Korea) and in Argentina. * from the 2014 Client Survey with 67 reporting. An all-time high of 7,480 session hours was provided in 2014 to SIRE’s special needs clients. By increasing service levels and controlling expenses, we were able to deliver services at 18% less total cost than in 2013. During the year, portions of the line of credit were used to manage cash flow. The budget for 2015 remains conservative and cash flow is closely monitored. Land debt was refinanced to eliminate the balloon payment at the end of the previous loan agreement and to provide more favorable terms. SIRE converted a monthly lease of a cell phone tower to a single cash payment, which helped with cash flow and has allowed SIRE to establish a contingency fund. The $725,000 value of volunteer hours is not included in the financial statements. 2015 Board of Directors Sabrina Shumsky, President Cheryl Nelson, Vice-President Rocky LeAnn Pilgrim, Vice-President Darren Williams, DVM, Secretary Renée Adair, Treasurer Cody Hogue, Past President Frank Brooks Gloria Hogue Anna Irion Pat Roddy Molly Sweeney Advisory Council Christopher Boutros, DVM Bill Collier, DVM Chris Cool Mike Dillingham Bobby J. Thank you to John and Jane Mancuso, Ride Beyond Gala Honorary Chairs, and to our Title Sponsor, Beck and Masten Auto Group. We raised nearly 40% more than the year before in our silent auction! Thank you as well to our Ride Beyond Sponsors, Richard C. and Nancy White and Jim and Jane Wise. The gala grossed $263,855. We raced to the Alamo Drafthouse in August to watch Hidalgo and raise $14,260. A glorious dawn welcomed hundreds of riders and volunteers to the 22nd Annual CGG Ride-a-thon last October. Thank you to the Reznicek’s for yet again donating the use of beautiful 7iL Trails. All told, we rustled up $110,000 in support of SIRE. You brought national recognition. Congratulations to Christopher “C.C.” Chan, PATH International Adult Rider of the Year. There are times when hard work is combined with a joyful spirit, and when that happens, the result is a person of rare ability. C.C. is a true delight to everyone he rides with, the volunteers, and instructors. When C.C. first started riding, he needed maximum assistance from two tall, strong sidewalkers and could ride for only 20 minutes. Now C.C. rides almost independently even at the trot. C.C. loves competition and has accumulated quite a collection of ribbons and trophies. paraphrased from C.C.’s nomination We thank our generous supporters. $25,000 or more Anonymous Beck and Masten Auto Group, John and Sharon Beck Discount Tire's Regional Philanthropy Program, Driven to Care The George Foundation Bryan and Cheryl Nelson Molly O.
