A message from the President
The vision of the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce states that “the Greater Madison
region will recognize, promote and invest in the economic and consumer power of the Black
population through the presence of a thriving marketplace of successful Black entrepreneurs,
engaged and productive Black business leaders and Black men and women employed at
every level of business and industry.” In 2015, our consumer power is projected to be at 1.2
trillion (not million, not billion) across the United States.
In light of this, MBCC’s endeavor is to help Make Smart Black Businesses Smarter. To do this, we
all need to get to know each other and start doing business with one another on a regular
basis. We need to let our community know Who We Are, What We Do and Where to Find Us. This
Directory is one example of that effort. The Chamber is appreciative of the opportunity to
initially publish this second Black Business Directory in UMOJA Magazine, relying in large
part on the business and research expertise of Publisher Milele Chikasa Anana.
This edition is the first part of a more detailed Madison Black Chamber Business Directory
that will be produced later in 2015. We realize that this is not a totally complete listing, but
it is a good start. If your business is not included, or if you are aware of any other Madison
area Black business, please contact me with up-to-date information to insure it will be included in the expanded directory. Please also let us know if some of the listed businesses
no longer exist or have changed owners.
In the expanded edition, we want to correct information and to include businesses not listed
here as well as churches and community organizations. We are depending on you to get in
touch with us to make this a bigger and better Directory. Please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you and to helping you grow smarter. In
the meantime, let us help each other to recycle the Black dollar.
