Metrocom Youth Association SERVING THE YOUTH OF THE RANDOLPH METROCOM AREA SINCE 2003 Judson Junior Rockets Football Metrocom Youth Association (MYA) Judson Junior Rockets Football Welcome Letter Dear New Judson Junior Rocket, What a pleasure it is to welcome you to the Judson Junior Rocket Football Program! We have completed our fourth season in 2008, and will be working hard during the off-season to insure the standards and performance of our teams remain at the level our record has demonstrated. Judson Junior Rocket football is unique, and we hope to expose you to what makes our spirit and reputation so strong. Our Football teams played in a combined 57 games over the 2008 season and suffered only 4 losses, while bringing home two state championships and one second place finish. If this sounds impressive, you may be surprised to know that this record compares almost equally with our 2006 and 2007 seasons. Additionally, combining our records for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons, our Football teams have won 159 games while losing only 13. This performance record gives Judson Junior Rockets the distinction of being the most successful organization within the Texas Youth Football Association (TYFA) for the third consecutive year. We Will be in touch with you from time to time this Summer and Fall and will invite you to spend time with our coaches and players so that you become more familiar with our organization and your new football family. Many of our players play both Middle School and Judson Junior Rocket Football. We encourage athletes to play both and work with those who decide to do so to ensure success in both arenas. Unlike most Middle School Districts, our teams compete against talented players, not just from San Antonio but also from Pflugerville, Austin, Fredricksburg, New Braunfels, Killeen and even Mexico. This year’s TYFA playoff games were facilitated at multiple locations primarily used by our state’s high school football teams culminating with the TYFA Championship Games played at the Alamodome. The Judson Junior Rocket Football program also includes Cheerleading teams that perform during our games and compete annually at the TYFA State Cheer Competition. We encourage all members of the family to be part of our organization and provide many opportunities for the youth of The Metrocom area to stay active, make new friends and improve their athletic abilities. Please feel free to visit our website at www.metrocomyouth.org/ for more details and to register for the latest Metrocom And Judson Junior Rocket programs. You can also view current news and receive information Regarding our upcoming Football and Basketball seasons. Texas Youth Football Association (TYFA) Texas Youth Football Association (TYFA) Texas Youth Football Association (TYFA) TYFA League Statistics & Member Organizations Judson Junior Rockets are members of TYFA. Our teams enjoy the opportunity to compete in a league that is composed of the most talented Football players within our region. What is TYFA? TYFA is an incorporated (non-profit) 501(c)(3) Youth Football & Cheerleading League. TYFA is an administrative (governing) entity that is comprised of a League Executive Board and numerous selfowned organizations (responsible for paying all their own bills to include the renting of playing facilities and the maintenance of their equipment) that choose to have their football players and cheerleaders participate on an annual contractual basis with the league. TYFA is owned by a group of gentleman who have a dream to provide football and cheer to kids across Texas without fear of discrimination for things such as weight, gender, or color. TYFA is one of the largest independent leagues in the country and is not associated with Pop Warner or AYF nationally. A child who already falls within the acceptable ages listed above may play up 1 year (not 1 age bracket). For example an 11 year old could play with the Seniors but a 10 year old could not. An athlete’s eligibility to participate in one of the TYFA age brackets is based on that athlete’s age as of August 1st of the current year. All classification of play, may it be Tackle and Flag football, to Cheer and Dance are open to boys and girls. TYFA does not have a weight restriction policy, and therefore does not discriminate against players because of weight. Athletes will not be allowed to participate in TYFA if they are involved in any other SAME sport league during the TYFA season (defined as August 1st through the State Game). Athletes found doing this will be removed from TYFA and TYFA will inform the other league as it may be a violation in that league. Fore example a player may not participate with TYFA and Pop Warner during the same season even if one finishes before the other. Players must be attending school to play in TYFA. An athlete, however, not currently enrolled in school shall not be deemed ineligible until it is determined by the TYFA executive Board that he/she is not currently attending school. Upon such a determination the athlete becomes ineligible and remains as such until he/she can establish that he/she is currently attending school. “Junior” Exception Rule: TYFA allows “Junior” age youth to participate in both school and TYFA football. “Senior” Exception Rule: Since youth organizations are in direct competition with middle schools causing difficulties in fielding “Senior” teams, TYFA has opened the door to 1) provide an avenue where Organizations have a chance to field these teams and 2) allow athletes not getting much playing time or just love football and want extra time to participate. TYFA allows “Senior” age athletes to participate in both school and TYFA football. Athletes who wish to compete in football must be TYFA certified or they will not be allowed to compete.
