DID YOU KNOW:
 that Bradshaw had
more athletes sign
college letters of
intent than any
other school in the
surrounding Elk
Grove area?
 that BCS Preschool
receives resources
and services
through the First 5
Preschool Bridging
Model Program?
Small School - Big Futures!
BCS seniors Brady Dragmire, Lauren Beyer, Jordie Smith, Macy Chase, and Lynn Tay gathered in front of an all‐school assembly to sign their let‐
ters of intent for their prospective colleges. Each student has garnered awards as BCS athletes and each plans to further their education on athletic scholarships. Brady Dragmire is a three sport player at BCS and has been a part of four championship wins with BCS Football, Baseball and Basketball teams. He will have two more championship opportuni‐
ties at BCS before he graduates this year. Though Brady excels in all three sports, he drew the most attention from colleges with his base‐
ball pitching ability. Last year, he pitched a com‐
plete game in a 4‐2 win over Valley Christian dur‐
ing the Division title game. With many colleges looking at him, Brady signed a letter of intent with the University of Nevada. Nevada has said that when Brady is not on the mound, they’d like to find a place for him on the football field. Lauren Beyer will play basketball next year for UC Davis. Lauren was part of the Lady Pride Basketball teams that won 3 section titles. Last season the Lady Pride made it all the way to the Nor Cal Regional Championships. “This year we want to go to state,” she said. Lauren, who has a grade point average above 4.0, says it was an easy decision for her when offered the chance to play basketball at UC Davis. Sharing those 3 basketball section titles, Lady Pride teammate Jordie Smith, signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Vanguard College. Jordie chose Vanguard in Costa Mesa because she wanted to play for a small school that was also a Christian school. Mike Ruble, who coached Lady Pride Basketball, says of Lauren and Jordie, “They have passion and a love for the game that is second to none.” Macy Chase signed her letter to play softball at Felician College in New Jersey. Macy is the Lady Pride’s softball pitcher and this year, her team made it to Division playoffs. Macy was also the MVP of the Sacramento Metropolitan Conference last season. Lynn Tay will swim collegiately at Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y. Tay swims the 50‐ and 100‐
yard freestyles and was a finalist last year in both events. She was the Most Valuable Swimmer last season in the Golden Empire League. Lynn said that in making her college decision she initially wanted to stay close to home. “Going to the east coast is a hard decision for me, but Wagner offers a lot of opportunities. The swim team maintains a high GPA and that’s important because I want a strong aca‐
demic school.” Lynn wants to study to become a dentist. “The fact that five of us from a school of 230 kids signed (letters of intent) is so cool! It’s like
we’re one big family.” (Lauren Beyer)

I.T. Department
During Christmas break, fiber optic cable was laid for our campus!
Moving from DSL to fiber optics is an infrastructure overhaul for us.
What are the advantages of fiber optics?
1.
2.
3.
Durability. Fiber is made of glass and withstands time and the
elements better than wire.
Speed. Fiber allows for the transport of information over a longer
distance at a higher rate. There are less “interruptions” through
fiber optics than with copper telephone wire.
Future. Fiber lays the foundation for bringing other technologies,
such as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), onto our campus. We
are looking to integrate VoIP capability into classroom in the near
future.
PROVISION! We are thankful to have received 28 flat screen monitors
as a part of an excess computer transfer from a Sacramento FAA office. These monitors are now set up and being used by Elementary
and Middle School students during Computer Lab.
DONATIONS: Please consider donating working, flat screen monitors, optical mice, USB keyboards, new mouse pads or old
PC speaker systems. Before bringing your donations, contact Mike White: 688-0521/mwhite@bradshawchristian.com. You
may also designate a gift to Technology through the Club Pride Annual Fund.
Achievements
Visual Arts
This fall and winter, our
Middle and High School
Art classes inspired us
with their Van Gogh
interpretations
and
Winter/Christmas
scenes. Student artwork displays could be
seen in our gym lobby
during this year’s choir
performance and in the
Middle School office
throughout the season.
Drama
Dramarama marked the first drama performance under the direction of our new Drama teacher,
Mrs. Danielle Mercado, Graduate of Sacramento State University. With more than 100 people in
attendance and over 30 performers, the Dramarama was an inaugural success!
Middle School students opened Act I, with a collection of modern and classic scenes from such
productions as James Barrie's "Peter Pan", Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland",
and Roger's and Hammerstein's "Cinderella". Students then performed puppet shows that they
wrote, directed, and created characters for. After Intermission, improvisational games and
scenes had the audience rolling in hysterics. Bible Stories that students re-wrote were performed such as "The Lost Sheep" and "Jonah and the Whale".
High School students performed various comedic Christmas-themed scenes, with senior
Spencer Smith as a performer who was given the wrong costume and ended up donning a pink
and purple butterfly tutu.
After the performance, the students were given a review assignment where comments such as
these were made: “I learned that I was terrified to go onstage but once I was up there I never wanted to get off," and "I'm really glad I
did this. In a funny way, this experience has really added to my life instead of just being an elective."

performance and for the first time, had their own float!
In competition this year, Elementary & MS Cheer both took first
place at the MLV league competition in Antioch on Oct. 30th!
Recruiting for BCS Cheer starts in the spring for our growing program.
Look for flyers and announcements in April 2011.
This year, Lady Pride Varsity Volleyball moved up to the Sierra Delta
League, which is made up of primarily Division IV schools. Under first year
Varsity Head Coach Melissa Bowers, Lady Pride had a great season, taking
third place in league. This year’s league play included a win at home that
broke a 13 year winning streak for Golden Sierra.
Our Lady Pride made section finals at UC Davis and after fighting hard, lost
in 4 games. Still having advanced to the Nor-cal Championships for the 2nd
consecutive year, the Pride found themselves ranked #7 out of 8 teams in
Northern California. They lost to #2 seed Crystal Spring from Hillsboro, CA
after a hard fought game.
End of the season honors went to senior Patricia Orozco receiving Co-Most
Valuable Player and Melissa Bowers who received Co-Coach of the Year.
Joining Orozco on first team All League was junior Janai Johnson and senior Alicia Mendoza; senior Chloe Hudson received Honorable Mention. With the criteria of a 3.5 or higher GPA, the following
girls received Academic All League awards: Stephanie Azevedo, Paige Benson, Rachel Byerly, Christy Haase, Chloe Hudson,
Alicia Mendoza, Natalie Parks and Brooke Ray. We are proud of these young ladies who exemplify the true meaning of student
athlete.
Once again, BCS
student and Swim
Team
member,
Sheldon
Simas
took to the 60degree ocean waters to swim the
Tiburon Mile, north
of San Francisco.
Simas, a BCS senior, finished 56th
with a time of
31:45.
This year’s annual
swim event drew
over 650 swimmers from all over
the world. Swimmers from the US, Germany, Tunisia, Denmark, Canada, Australia and New Zealand helped raised more than $25,000 for
the non-profit organization, Hospice By The Bay.

Inaugural Sierra Delta League Champions What a year for Bradshaw Christian High School Football! There were highs and lows like you’d find in any
growing experience. The lows included ending a winning season with a bitter defeat in a Divisional Championship Game and the death of a beloved coach and
Christian mentor – Greg Cochran. The highs were the
bonding together of teammates during those experiences, the winning of a league championship, setting
new records, Thursday evening devotionals, challenging one another, and becoming a family; a Pride of
lions known as Bradshaw Christian Football.
The season was a story of teammates, yet we need to
recognize the individuals - especially the ten seniors that played a part in this band of brothers…plus one sister.
All League First Team Seniors:
Senior Brady Dragmire - first ever football MVP in the Sierra Delta League. Among his accomplishments, 2,019 rushing
yards and 33 touchdowns.
 Team Captain and Quarterback Daniel Lewis set records for passing in a game, year (1377-yds & 21 TDs), and career.
 E.J. Edinburgh – 1761 yards, 12 TDs, and 104 tackles on defense. Shone as a Christian leader and example.
 Dylan Crownover –First Team Wide Receiver set the school’s game, season, and career records for receiving yards and
TDs
 Marlon Lewis – a dangerous return man added a 73 yard kickoff return for a TD to his record.
 Sergio Castillo – First Team Running Back led the League in interceptions (5) and in tackles (118).
 Andraas Lopez – First Team Cornerback hauled in 4 interceptions amongst his tackles and knockdowns.
 Anthony Lopez – First Team Center - keystone of the Offensive Line.
 Spencer Smith – First Team Offensive Lineman.
 John Taylor – First Team Defensive Lineman, contributing 88 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries to the Pride effort.


Other All League First Team Players:

Junior Ian Fowler – recording 70 tackles, honored as the League’s Most Valuable Lineman.

Junior Zach Rangel – First Team Offensive Lineman

Junior Eric Osterman – First Team Outside Linebacker.

Junior David Ellis –with 94 tackles – First Team Middle Linebacker.

Freshman Seth Vandegrift –with 13 sacks – First Team Defensive End.

Freshman Jennifer Lawson –70 PATs, including 56 in a row; First Team Special Team Player!
We do want to acknowledge that this thrilling and unforgettable season was made possible through the tough love, knowledge,
and example of a committed coaching staff lead by Drew Rickert – distinguished as the Sierra Delta Coach of the Year.

BCHS Varsity Football team, friends and family, were saddened by the loss of BCS offensive
coordinator, Greg Cochran. Cochran, BCHS Football Coach and former president of the Elk
Grove Jr. Thundering Herd youth football program, died October 25th from complications of a
stroke.
Not only was he an honored coach, Cochran was considered to be one of the driving forces behind the formation of the Bradshaw Christian’s Jr. Pride football program.
Coach Greg Cochran
Bradshaw football players wore black arm bands with Cochran’s initials on it to honor him during
the rest of their season.
A memorial trust fund has been established at River City Bank in Elk Grove to help Cochran’s family.

Middle School
Preschool
Bradshaw Christian Preschool has been
collecting food for the Sacramento Food
Bank and Family Services, Canned Food
Drive. They had filled their donation barrel twice before Christmas break.
4,341
!
CANS
Elementary
This year at Christmas time,
BCS Elementary classrooms
collected presents for homeless
children. These gifts were distributed through Mustard Seed School, a ministry of Sacramento Loaves and Fishes.
Mustard
Seed is a free, private school for homeless children 3-15 years old. The children
who received these gifts are either currently enrolled in the Mustard Seed
School or their families recently obtained
services from one of the other programs
at Loaves & Fishes.
This year, our middle school students
brought in a total of 4,341 cans for
the KCRA Kids Can! Food Drive.
With incentives such as a tour of the
Elk Grove Food Bank, lunch and a
pajama day, the students exceeded
their goal of 1,500 cans. The canned
food was picked up and taken directly
to the Elk Grove Food Bank to be
used for Thanksgiving and throughout the year.
High School
BCS High School students continue to raise money for Operation Smile, an organization that helps provide free surgeries for
children born with cleft lips or cleft palates. High School students also continue to recycle and give
money to the Courage House, a home for
girls rescued from sex trafficking. Courage House is a ministry of C2BU.

Club Pride Annual Fund
Families continue to strive toward their Family Fundraising Goal of $340. This is the portion of the $280,000 Fundraising Budget for each Bradshaw family to raise to help meet that gap between tuition and the actual cost of an educa‐
tion. We thank you for your
diligence in meeting
your goal!
This is the third year for the
Club Pride Annual Fund and
its strength grows as families
become more familiar with its
purpose and join in as it gains
momentum.
Tuition alone
does not cover the cost of a
BCS education.
Successful
fundraising efforts, including
the Annual Fund, meet the
“gap” by providing funds for
the every day needs of the
operating budget.
When
choosing to donate to a nonprofit, please consider BCS at
the top of your list! The NEW
on-line giving options make it
easy to donate and to share
with friends and family on
facebook. Go to
www.bradshawchristian.com
under “Support Us” to learn
more.
Serve-a-thon
It has been exciting this year to explore the opportunity to add
“Service” to our annual Jog-a-thon. Our Jog event is the premiere
fundraising event for the entire school grossing over $130,000 during
each of the past few years. We are making plans for many high
school students to volunteer at a variety of local non-profits instead
of having them take their laps around the track. The Ronald McDonald House, Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, and the
Jessie Baker School are just a few of the organizations partnering
with us on this new venture. Much help is needed! Please contact
Ann Gomez, Development Director, to find out how you can help with
this exciting event. (agomez@bradshawchristian.com or 916-6880521 x104)

Thousands of parent volunteer hours have already been recorded
for the first half of the school year. The personal involvement of
each BCS family keeps the pulse of the ministry strong. Families
will receive notification in January of their recorded hours. A budding program on campus is the “New Family Outreach.” Our goal is
to help new families get acquainted with the “ins and outs” of BCS
and to connect them with some of the “long-timers.” If you would
like to get involved, contact parent coordinator, Staci Bettis, at
