Why A Foundation? - Fondation Jeannine Manuel
Why A Foundation?
To support and invest in school projects and initiatives,
calling upon funding by EABJM families and alumni as well
as corporate sponsorship. Together sponsors provide for
scholarships, educational research, project development in
coordination with the school’s faculty, and sharing with other
schools when relevant. The Foundation was born out of this
desire to innovate and share.
“Learning a foreign language is very important in
itself. It also allows a better understanding of others
as it enables one to think like others. It is an
opening to the world."

Grandir Ensemble
Promoting and supporting the arts and creativity
through partnerships (including the Théâtre de
l’Odéon and the Comédie française, etc.),
productions, new works, conferences, concerts,
cultural trips or workshops. For example, the
Shore to Shore project supports English-language
theatre in Paris with classics and contemporary
texts, at school and on stage.
Sports Projects: Students’ fulfilment and growth
through sports. The launch of a new European
sports league and the opening of new sports
facilities in Lille will allow for local and regional
events to be hosted on campus.
Supporting initiatives outside EABJM, whose
values and principles are similar to Jeannine
Manuel’s project. It consists mostly of aid to
finance class trips for students from low-income
families in other schools, or to associations for the
promotion of bilingual education.
Students may apply for scholarships in order to
take the International Baccalaureate (which is not
state-subsidised, unlike the French Bac). These
scholarships are available only to students whose
families cannot afford the I.B. tuition and fees.

Developing new educational projects. These grants
have provided for the development of the Itinéraires
de Questionnements Scientifiques, inspired by the
Problem Based Learning methodology.
They also help fund trips abroad to enhance
teachers’
training
and
experience,
support
international fellowships, finance innovative projects
aimed at ‘gifted’ students, and provide access to
new technologies in all classrooms.
Welcoming students from low-income and immigrant families in Grade One (CP).
The school commits to supporting them throughout their primary and secondary
education, in school as well as before and after school. The students get access
to innovative schooling tools and methods to better learn and understand today’s
world. Notably, they can learn English early on.
Grandir Ensemble also includes:
- Educational partnerships with State schools that are
provided with the Knock-Knock© English learning method
(tools, training and follow up).
- Fun English language projects in primary State schools,
carried out by EABJM high school students.
