From the Desk of the Manager …..
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the staff that works at the
shelter and the dedicated volunteers who come in on a regular basis to help. Often, I
encounter people outside of the shelter and they tell me what a good job I’m doing
and how well I take care of the shelter.
Thank you for those kind words, but really, I oversee the running of the shelter. The
staff does the hard work. They work well together as a team and they each have their
own special skill which makes the whole shelter run. They’re always here if an animal is in need. They stay
late or come in early if an emergency arises. They have to come in on holidays. When others are home on
Christmas morning, or having dinner with family on Thanksgiving, somebody is here taking care of the animals. When others have a snow day and everything is shut down, somebody is working their way here to let
the dogs outside and to feed. They are the ones who have to comfort a sick or injured animal when it comes
in and to say goodbye if it has to put to sleep due to the extent of its injuries or illness. They are the ones
who care for, love and play with the animals and then have to part with it so it can go on to its forever
home. They share their love and compassion with each and every dog or cat that comes into the shelter and
makes sure it receives the best care possible while with us. Without the special people who do this every
day, this shelter wouldn’t be the place that it is. And, so I say thank you to the Staff of the Menominee Animal Shelter and to the Dedicated Volunteers!
