Cork Footballers Received by Lord
Mayor
On Friday, June 18th, a Civic Reception was accorded to
the Cork Senior Football team and management by Lord
Mayor Dara Murphy in honour of their achievements in
winning the prestigious Division 1 Allianz National
League title. Guests at the event included many City
Councillors and Minister Micheál Martin. Cork manager
Conor Counihan accepted a gift of Cork Crystal from the
Lord Mayor, who wished all Cork teams the very best for
the season ahead. County Chairman Jerry O’Sullivan
thanked the Lord Mayor for the reception and wished
him well as he leaves office this week.

Cork Minor Hurling
The Cork Minor Hurlers will play Waterford in the
Munster Semi-final on Saturday, June 26th at 7.30pm in
Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Highlights of the game can be seen
on TG4 on Monday night on the GAA 2010 programme
at 8pm, which will also include the best of the other
semi final between Limerick and Clare, as well as both
Leinster U21 Semi-finals. Live updates from the game

Denis Walsh Honoured at Boardwalk
Congratulations to Cork hurling manager Denis
Walsh, who recently received the Boardwalk Sports
Award for May at a special lunch in his honour at
Boardwalk Bar and Grill. MC for the event was John
McHale, while RTE's Pat McAuliffe represented the
judging panel. Guests included Cork captain Kieran
Murphy, representatives of the County Board and Denis's
family and friends.

Well done to Cork’s Eoin Cadogan, who was recently
presented with the Rochestown Park 96Fm C103 Sports
Award for May at the Rochestown Park Hotel. Eoin was
honoured for his outstanding display against Tipperary
and was joined at the event by his family and friends,
Denis Walsh and several members of the Cork hurling
team, officials from Douglas GAA Club and officers of
Cork County Board.

County Board Report
At the County Board meeting of June 22nd, it was decided
that, in the interests of health and safety, children can no
longer be allowed onto the pitch in Páirc Uí Chaoimh or
Páirc Uí Rinn on match days.
The report of the most recent Central Council meeting
was presented by Des Cullinane and has been circulated
to all clubs.
Membership cards will be available at the next Board
meeting for all clubs who have completed their online
membership. The draws for Round 4 of the Evening Echo
County Championships will take place on July 6 th at
7.30pm in Rochestown Park hotel, replacing the County
Board meeting scheduled for that night. The next
meeting will be held on July 20th.

Progress
While great strides
have been made in
this year’s County
Leagues so far, with
353 games played
out of 561 (63%),
clubs should note
that an average of
17 games will have
to be played per
week for the
remainder of the
season in order to
complete the leagues
by the cut-off date of
October 10th. For

Aisake Ó hAilpín Player of the
Month
Congratulations to Cork hurler Aisake Ó hAilpín who was
recently named Vodafone Player of the Month for May at
the Westbury Hotel in Dublin, as a result of his starring
role for Cork in the defeat of Tipperary.
