The Greatest Story Ever Told*
Susan Guercio
September 6, 2015 – Dr. Phil Schmunk
The first of a 5 part series entitled, ”Windows into Membership”
The Gospel is the greatest story ever told about the greatest
Person who ever lived and the greatest offer that was ever
made.
To prepare for Sunday, Pastor Phil has asked you to think about
these two important questions:
If I died tonight, do I know for
sure I would go to heaven?
Suppose I did die, and I stood
before God, and He asked me,
“Why should I let you into my
heaven?” What would I say?
S AY A L I T T L E P R AY E R F O R :

Like Noah, Big Heroes obey God.
Thank you so much for serving
in JAMM this coming Sunday
September 6 , 2015.
God had some instructions for a man
named Noah: build an ark, gather animals to live in it, and begin the human
race all over again. It was a big job for
a big hero.
And like Noah, big heroes obey God.

CONNECTION CAFE
We desperately need connection Cafe volunteers
for Sunday morning. Easy job, excellent pay, only
work once a month or less, meet new people.
Great boss. (Bob wrote that.)
See Bob Spadaro.
Unusual Transfer
After the service a young couple talked to me about joining the church. I hadn't
met the husband before, and I asked what church he was transferring from.
After a short hesitation, he replied, "I am transferring from the Municipal Golf
Course."

ENCOUNTER
Encounter is a wonderful ministry that has helped people deal
with issues as wide ranging as addiction to broken hearts. It has
worked with people who feel disenfranchised and those who run
companies. Pain has no concern about who you are. Encounter
has brought comfort and the Lord to all of those. Come see
what it is all about.
This Sunday, our own Steve Carlson will be talking about Keeping
a solid footing with the Lord. Sounds like something we could all
use.
G E T T I N G T O K N OW … ..
1. How long have you lived in Florida? 2 years
3. What made you come to First Christian Church?
David Miller - When we first visited FCC, we filled out a we care card and requested a home visit. He came
and spent three hours with us going over the DOC doctrine, & answering any questions we had. His outgoing personality drew us to him & the church, We also were very fond of Charles Rowley, all of the praise
and worship team and Marcus Cervinka. Mike, Keith & I prayed about it, & the Lord led us to join FCC.
4. What is your favorite thing about our church?
The people--we LOVE the people--& the fact that FCC was a "Church of Second Chances".
5. What do you want your legacy to be?
That She loved the Lord,
That she was a good wife, A good mother, & a faithful civil servant for 40 years.
6. If you could change one thing about our church what would it be?
That everyone's hurts be healed & all of us could move forward in total harmony. Also, that most everyone that left FCC return.
7. DID YOU EVER DO ANYTHING DANGEROUS?
Yes, when I was a teenager my dad bought me a new RED BUICK CONVERTIBLE, & once I got up to 100
MPH ON THE HIGHWAY!! I had a bunch of girlfriends in the car challenging me to do it. How stupid I was!!
Praise God I didn't have an accident or get a speeding ticket!!
8. WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO YOU?
1. Getting saved & baptized @ age 9
2. Meeting Mike Guercio in 1963
9. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PASSTIME??
Mike & I BOTH love praying for people & the special time we spend with our prayer warriors from Mississippi, who are actually an extension of FCC.
Also: As Bad is I hate to admit it, I LOVE TV!! I was ill & in bed quite a bit in 2013, & TV was my only source
of entertainment. I became addicted to Dr. Phil!!
10. WHAT IS THE BEST PLACE YOU EVER VISITED? Hawaii
SUSAN GUERCIO
2. What brought you to Florida?
We vacationed here with Keith, our youngest son, at least three times,
and we loved it !! Keith has ALWAYS wanted to live in Florida, & since he
volunteered to take care of us when/if we can't take care of ourselves,
the three of us decided to make the move. It was one of the best decisions we ever made!!
SUSAN GUERCIO
11. DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN? IF SO, TELL US ABOUT THEM:
We have two sons, John, 48, who is a behavior analyst. He works with autistic adults at an autism center in St. Louis,
Missouri. He has 2 biological children, Chase, age 21, who is a senior at SEMO (South East Missouri University), & a
daughter, Savannah, age 19, who is a freshman in college. He also has 2 step-sons, Tyler, age 16, & Luke, age 13.
John's wife, Tess, is also a behavior analyst.
Our youngest son, Keith, 46, lives in Venice, & is also a member of First Christian Church. He is single, & works for the
Social Security Administration. He is such a joy, & takes good care of us!!
12. DO YOU HAVE ANY HOBBIES?
I love Facebook, emailing and texting & keeping in touch with my friends from Mississippi I do some arts & crafts.
13. IF YOU COULD ELIMINATE ONE OF THE DEADLY SINS, WHICH ONES WOULD YOU CHOOSE & WHY?
WRATH--It IS SUCH A DANGEROUS THING! Children that grow up in an atmosphere of anger grow up to be angry
adults. So many problems could be worked out using gentle words as opposed to harsh words!!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SCRIPTURE?
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of POWER, & OF LOVE, & OF A SOUND MIND I used to suffer fearful,
debilitating panic attacks, & this scripture was of GREAT COMFORT to me. Praise God, I have been delivered from
panic attacks!!
14. WHAT MINISTRY ARE YOU CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN?
Birthday, Anniversary, & sympathy card ministry Diaconate/Prayer Team
15. WHAT IS YOUR DREAM FOR OUR CHURCH??
To increase our membership 'til we burst @ the seams!! We would love to be around long enough to witness expansion of our church & building on our land. HARMONY & LOVE BETWEEN EVERYONE!
