Three kids. Three memorable wishes.
T
hese kids may have very
different wishes, but they all have
one thing in common -- they all had
their dreams come true in our 30th anniversary year. Since May 1983, our chapter
has granted more than 15,000 wishes -more than any other chapter in the country.
That’s 15,000 kids who have been given
hope. 15,000 kids who have had their lives
changed for the better. Whether a kid wants
to meet a favorite celebrity or have a new
bedroom, Make-A-Wish® strives to make
each wish as magical as possible.

Francesca, age 17
Brain stem glioma
Coraopolis, PA
Seventeen-year old Francesca, who
has a brain stem glioma, wished to be a
fashion blogger, and thanks to Style Fashion
Week and Glamour, her wish came true.
She spent a week in Los Angeles feeling like
a true celebrity.
Bridget was surprised when she walked
into the Kohl’s in Clarksburg, WV, to learn that
her wish for a bedroom makeover was
coming true. This wish marked the 1,000th
wish that the Northern West Virginia regional
office granted since it began in 1990.
Not only did seven-year-old Chloe,
diagnosed with a life-threatening neurological
disorder, want to meet her favorite WWE
Superstar, John Cena, but she wanted to have
a tea party with him as well. During the
meeting, Chloe made sure that John Cena had
his pinky up in the proper teatime position.
Read more about these wishes on page 2 and 5.

I wish to be a fashion blogger at LA Fashion Week
S
eventeen-year-old wish kid Francesca lives
and breathes all things fashion. This past
March, Francesca traveled to the City of Angels
where her dream became a reality as she spent
her wish week guest blogging for Glamour
Magazine during Style Fashion Week, the
premier event of LA Fashion Week.
Francesca’s VIP status was immediately apparent
in LA when she was whisked away to a jewelry
store, Sarah Lenard Fine Jewelers, and was
surprised with some glamorous gifts from jeweler
Charles Garnier Paris. When Francesca wasn’t
busy blogging about topics such as the “5 Trends
You Can Wear Right Now From the Runways at
L.A. Fashion Week,” she was living the highlife
as she got her hair and make-up styled before
attending events, walked the red-carpet, sat in
the front row at all of the runway shows of her
choice, and met
and mingled with
only the most dazzling of designers.
She even toured the
studio of one of her
idols, Rachel Zoe.

something that I will carry with me, not only in
my heart, but in my ambitions, for many years
to come.”

Breanna, 12, who is diagnosed
with a brain tumor, wished for a
bedroom makeover. On National Believe Day, December 6,
she was picked up from school
and learned that it was her wish day. She was then whisked off to the Macy’s
at Millcreek Mall to select bedding and accessories for her new room while her
bedroom furniture was installed at home. The smile on Breanna’s face says how
much this new room will mean to her.
Put on your walking shoes and help make wishes
come true! There is no entry fee, but all registered

or his wish,
sixteen-yearold Austin,
diagnosed with
osteosarcoma,
wanted a special companion -- one that would help him
recover from treatments and his recent amputation. His
heart was set on a gray puppy named Layla, but he didn’t
know where or when he would receive her. NCAA Division

special “Jam the Gym” basketball game. At halftime, Austin
was invited to center court, where he was presented
with Layla, as well as pet toys and accessories.

Austin’s wish reveal is just one of the ways that

Make-A-Wish. The Edinboro Athletic Department raised

a sponsor of Make-A-Wish since 2003, raising more
than $3 million.
