In A Big Way
even years ago, six-year-old
Zack made a special wish –
he wanted his very own
Tyrannosaurus rex in his backyard. Battling rhabdomyosarcoma,
Zack left thoughts of doctor visits
and cancer treatments behind
when Make-A-Wish® made him a
paleontologist for a day, with visits to the Pittsburgh Zoo and
Carnegie Museum. After his day
of exploring, Zack followed
“dinosaur tracks” back to his
home, where there stood his very
own 7 ½ feet tall fiberglass T-rex
that he appropriately named,
“Meaty.” Zack described it as “one
of the best days of my life.”
That was 2005. Zack, now
12 years old with no traces of
cancer, still looks at his dinosaur
every day. Inspired by his wish, he
wanted to help give other kids the
same magical experience that he
had. On Sunday, August 19, 2012,
he did just that with his first-ever
Make A Move for Make-A-Wish®
5-mile bike ride, run and walk in
North Park outside of Pittsburgh.
His goal was originally $3,900 –
the average cost of one wish.
He more than surpassed it,
raising an AMAZING grand total
of $23,477!
“It was phenomenal. It was outstanding,” Zack said to a WTAETV reporter. “I couldn’t even
begin to talk to the people or
thank them enough for coming,
because I crushed my goal
and helped Make-A-Wish
a lot.”
Make-A-Wish couldn’t
be more grateful to
Zack and his family for
organizing this wonderful
event that will bring happiness to many other wish
kids. Zack is already planning
for next year’s event.

T
Did you know…?
• 75% of all wishes involve
air travel
• A trip to Hawaii = 400,000
air miles and a trip to
Orlando = 200,000 air miles
ravel is the biggest wish
granting expense. In fact, we
would need more than 124 million
air miles to completely eliminate
this cost. So, if you have unused
air miles with Delta, US Airways
or United, please donate them to
Make-A-Wish®. We turn donated
miles into free flights for the kids.
And once donated, they never
expire. Donate today by visiting
www.wishgreaterpa.org

We appreciate your support!
