Our 17-strong educational team will accompany you throughout your stay. Feel free to ask Mr Dominique Gering, our educational coordinator, any questions you might have. On the administrative side, our secretary Valérie Barbier and our bookings manager Petra Van Lieshout are more than happy to answer your questions. The technical department and senior management are also available if needed. If you would like to visit the SPACE SHOP, please get in touch with the manager, Mireille Gaussin. The children will consequently not have to carry their luggage very far. Ideally, you will first tell Euro Space Center staff that you have arrived, before getting the children off the bus. A Euro Space Center coordinator will welcome you and accompany you to your bedrooms, where you can drop off your luggage. If you are going to arrive later than planned, please notify Euro Space Center staff. We can then adjust your schedule and offer the best possible welcome. During the daytime, between 9 am and 5 pm, you can call Valérie on +32.61/ 65 01 34, and from 5 pm to 9 am or during weekends, call +32.496 / 58 56 94. Where to go ? Coach entrance Trainee’s entrance 2 3 Bedrooms 1 P i P 2 1 3 4 P P Next, the Euro Space Center coordinator will bring your whole group together for a quick welcome briefing. We will take this opportunity to explain the rules for the communal areas and issue safety instructions. You are going to be living as astronauts for a few days. In space, people from different countries live together 24 hours a day. At the Euro Space Center, we attach great importance to this philosophy. We want all groups to live together harmoniously and entirely respectfully of each other. After this first meeting, give your coordinator the completed medical forms and the list of names of all the children present. This will enable the coordinators to organise space camp activities in the most effective way possible. 1, RUE DEVANT LES HÊTRES • B-6890 TRANSINNE BELGIUM • TEL. + 32.61 / 6 5 64 65 • FAX. + 32.61 / 6 5 64 61 • INFO@ EUROSPACECENTER.BE • WWW.EUROSPAC E C E N T E R . This will show the details of your activities hour by hour, together with meal times. c.Dress code Sports clothes are recommended for participating in activities. We advise against the wearing of dresses, skirts and shoes with any kind of heel. A swimming costume is needed for the five-day full-time camps. The Euro Space Center provides one or two t-shirts to each guest depending on how long they are staying (one t-shirt for 3-day camps, two t-shirts for stays longer than 5 days). Students are in addition requested to wear these t-shirts during space camp activities and to remove t-shirts during meal times. Ideally, students will bring a pair of sports shoes for indoors and a pair of shoes for outdoors. d.Group supervision The Euro Space Center is responsible for supervising students during space activities from 9 am to 5.30 pm. During communal activities (meals, getting up, bed time, breaks, evening activities and at all times between 5.30 pm and 9 am), you are responsible for supervising your group. We must also stress the importance of accompanying your groups during space activities. The presence of a group’s teachers and accompanying adults during space activities encourages children to pay attention and behave appropriately. Note that running is not allowed in the training hall or in the classrooms, and neither is eating or drinking. 1, RUE DEVANT LES HÊTRES • B-6890 TRANSINNE BELGIUM • TEL. + 32.61 / 6 5 64 65 • FAX. + 32.61 / 6 5 64 61 • INFO@ EUROSPACECENTER.BE • WWW.EUROSPAC E C E N T E R . Every child should pack basic toiletries (bath towel, flannel, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc.) and bring a sleeping bag, a quilt or a bed sheet and a pillowcase. For groups travelling by plane, the Euro Space Center can provide sheets, a blanket and a pillowcase. A supplement of 4,50 € per person per stay will then be requested to cover laundry costs. b.Bedrooms Each bedroom can host from 6 to 10 persons; pupils and teachers sleep on bunk beds. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with two sinks and one shower. Each bedroom also has its own toilet, located in the corridor. The teachers’ bedrooms (first and last on each floor) include an en-suite WC. The Euro Space Center has a total of 24 bedrooms spread across three floors. Note that we advise young people not to bring anything of value when staying at the Euro Space Center. The Euro Space Center cannot be held liable if guests’ personal possessions are lost , stolen or damaged. For safety reasons, children are not given keys to the bedrooms. The fire brigade require all bedrooms to be accessible in the event of a fire. Teachers may, if they so wish, obtain a key for their bedroom in exchange for a deposit of 5,00 € per key, refundable when the key is returned on departure. Euro Space Center reserves the right to keep the 5,00 € deposit if a key is lost.. c.Beds For the sake of hygiene, it is important that no students sleep on the mattress cover. Mattresses may not, of course, be moved onto the floor. To avoid accidents, could you also insist that your children refrain from jumping on the beds ? Students make their own beds on arrival. Consequently, those who have brought a sleeping bag are to put a sheet over the mattress cover and a pillowcase on the pillow. Those who get sheets from the Euro Space Center will put a sheet on the mattress cover, a sheet below their blanket and their pillow case. d.Bathroom When taking a shower, all guests are to ensure that the shower curtains and the shower mat are inside the shower itself. This will stop the bathroom from turning into a swimming pool. There is a duckboard in front of the shower to stop people slipping while getting out. We ask the young people to use their deodorants and sprays only in the bathroom, so as not to trigger the smoke detectors fitted in the bedrooms. For hygiene reasons, we also ask you not to clean your outdoor shoes in the sinks or showers. 1, RUE DEVANT LES HÊTRES • B-6890 TRANSINNE BELGIUM • TEL. + 32.61 / 6 5 64 65 • FAX. + 32.61 / 6 5 64 61 • INFO@ EUROSPACECENTER.BE • WWW.EUROSPAC E C E N T E R . B E © Euro Space Center – 19/11/2014 – 8/14 EURO SPACE CENTER Guide for teachers e.Cleaning On departure day, all children and teachers are to strip their beds and place their luggage in the room indicated by the Center coordinator.. They are also to make sure that every blanket is properly folded, and leave them on one of the beds. If the Euro Space Center has provided sheets and pillowcases, then children and teachers should also remove these and put them in the corridor. All rooms are to be vacated and empty by 9.00 am. The bedrooms are cleaned every day, usually in the morning, when the children are busy with activities. To make this cleaning easier, we ask guests to tidy up their bedrooms before activities begin. f. Curfew To ensure a good night’s sleep for all guests, we ask that all groups end their activities by 9.30 pm and head towards the bedrooms. Lights out is at 10 pm, and we insist on silence in all bedrooms from 10.30 pm. 1, RUE DEVANT LES HÊTRES • B-6890 TRANSINNE BELGIUM • TEL. + 32.61 / 6 5 64 65 • FAX. + 32.61 / 6 5 64 61 • INFO@ EUROSPACECENTER.BE • WWW.EUROSPAC E C E N T E R . And yes, second helpings are allowed. b.Menus Meals are organised as follows : n breakfast : cereals, bread/toast & spreads, drinks n lunch: a set meal with water n afternoon snack : snack with fruit juice n evening meal : a substantial meal with water Menus can be seen on the Euro Space Center websiter : http://www.eurospacecenter.be/esc/pdf/en/schools/Menus_Stagiaires_EN.pdf A starter can be booked for the lunch and evening meal and is charged at a 2,00 € supplement per person per day (to be booked before arrival). If these safety devices are used improperly (equipment damaged, alarm systems triggered) the Euro Space Center will be forced to charge for the cost of any work required. c.Evacuating the centre – Assembly point If the fire alarm sounds, warn the other occupants ; gather your children together and follow the signs for the emergency exits, then head for the outside car park which is the assembly point for the emergency services.
