Saving your Dick’s Market receipts Using your Target RED card 8th Grade Girls If you are interested in sideline cheer for next year sign ups and information sheets are available in the office Non-traditional Career Day at Tech Center On Wednesday, May 28th, nine HMS 7th and 8th graders attended the Non-traditional Career Fair at the Allegan County Area Technical Educational Center (ACATEC). They had the chance to visit two programs that are nontraditional for their gender. Students were able to complete a hands-on project in each program and learn more about in-demand career areas that they might not otherwise consider due to gender stereotypes. We heard great feedback about the visit from both our students and ACATEC staff. After School Study Help The Middle School Media Center is open daily until 3:45 p.m. Students will be offered help with their homework, and some extra tutoring on concepts as needed. Students are welcome to drop in, but a call or email from a parent is appreciated, so we know what you would like your child to gain from this time. After school students are welcome to work on homework or read independently. Computer games or recreational netbook use will not be allowed during this time. Students are welcome to bring a snack to nibble on while they work. If you would like to learn more about after school workshops, please call Middle School Office 269-793-7407 Wayland Community Education is offering Babysitter Training – American Red Cross, Saturday, June 14 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Wayland Area Emergency Services Building, 911 South Main in Wayland. You must pre-register for the class. This class is designed for students 11 to 15 years old. The cost is $60. Space is limited. Students that stay behind may possibly work on missing assignments. Please keep this in mind as you plan for the day. Contestants must live or attend school in the Hopkins School District. Queen contestants must be age 16-21 and Prince & Princess age 4-7 and 8-12 years. Incoming freshman for 2014-15 cost is fall participation fee ($60) and incoming 7th & 8th graders for 2014-15 is $20 each. You may leave a message on our voicemail system day or night. When reporting illness, please inform Secretary of what type of symptoms your child is experiencing. Fever, sore throat, ect. If your child is absent 2 days or more, you may request homework. If absent only 1 day, homework can be picked up from their Teacher the next day. PHONE CALLS Telephones in the office are to be used for illness and emergencies only. Thank you for your cooperation. IMMUNIZATIONS Please report all immunizations that your child has had so we can keep our school records up to date. All new students and all 6th graders must be completely up to date on all immunizations. Please contact the HMS office if you have any questions. MEDICATION ALL medications dispensed to the students must be supplied from home. The school does not provide any type of medication. All prescription medication must be provided in a pharmacy labeled bottle. Tylenol/Aspirin must be brought to the office in an unopened bottle. All students requiring any type of medication must have a medication form completed by their parents. CHANGES in Phone Numbers, Home Address & E-Mail Please inform the office any time there are changes in your address or phone numbers. We need to have this information so we can update our records.
