Idaho Potato Commission
The Idaho Potato Commission is full of superhero field personnel, beginning
with Ken Tubman, whose sole role is to assist category managers everywhere
in being more profitable in the critically important potato category. Examples
of their superhero help is demonstrated through our campaign (which will be
on your table for dinner). Presenting their great deeds will be the behind the
scenes puppet master, Seth Pemsler, the VP of Retail and International.
The Idaho Potato Commission is one of the largest and oldest commodity
organizations in the US, now in its 74th year. Its role is to continue to drive
consumer demand for the Idaho brand and the “Grown in Idaho®” seal and does
so through national TV advertising, extensive public relations and numerous
tools for retailers. Prepare to enjoy both an entertaining 20 minutes as well as
the largest potato you have ever eaten at the EPC dinner on September 13,
2011.
A century ago, Jacob Prevor landed in America and opened a wholesale produce operation in the
old Wallabout Produce Market in Brooklyn, NY. Today, his great-grandson, Jim Prevor, serves the produce
industry in a different way.
As founder and editor-in-chief of PRODUCE BUSINESS magazine, the online PerishablePundit.com
and, more recently, PerishableNews.com, he has spearheaded an effort to “Initiate Industry Improvement”
in the trade and to use the latest technology to enhance the information literacy of the participants in the
produce industry.
Serving the industry in print and online, PRODUCE BUSINESS has also joined hands with the Eastern
Produce Council to serve the industry “in person” with this year’s Second Annual New York Produce Show
and Conference, to be held November 7th, 8th and 9th, 2011.
Already seen by the industry as a must-attend meeting, The New York Produce Show and Conference
is a world-class event showcasing a trade show, conference, chef demonstrations, interactions with the
great university centers of learning in our fields, tours of wholesale, retail, restaurant operations and copious
amounts of time for networking and relationship building.
Jim Prevor, also known as the Perishable Pundit, will update us on the hottest trends in the industry
and provide a sneak preview of plans for this year’s New York Produce Show and Conference.
