Time is also spent in college, studying towards a nationally recognised qualification. Your progress will be continually assessed through a series of written and practical activities. There will be an element of external testing. This Advanced Level Apprenticeship is designed to reflect the electrical industries competence requirements. On completion you will receive an NVQ Level 3 Diploma qualification. After this course: The greater part of the Advanced Apprenticeship programme is spent in the workplace. Time is also spent in college, studying towards a nationally recognised qualification. Entry requirements Course content: The course consists of 9 knowledge evidence Units, each Unit having 3 or 4 written assignments, and 8 practical evidence Units, 7 of which are assessed on site. The final practical assessment is college based. The knowledge evidence units include: • • • • • • Health and safety Legislation, practices and procedures Environmental legislation Practices and procedures in the work environment The principles of planning and selection of equipment The preparation and installation of wiring systems The principles practice and legislation for the termination of conductors • The principles practice and legislation for the inspection testing and certification of electrical systems • The principles practice and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults • Electrical principles associated with electrical equipment and systems. All apprentices will follow a functional skills programme of Maths and English. You will also undertake Employment Right & Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills elements, plus a technical knowledge element (covering theoretical concepts, knowledge and understanding) as part of the framework. Further qualifications could include Inspection and Testing, and 17th Edition. Entry age: 16+. All candidates need to have attained employment, and be working for a minimum of 30 hours per week under a contract of employment. There is a minimum literacy and numeracy requirement which will be assessed prior to enrolment. An Employer Agreement is needed as this is a work-based qualification. Your offer is also subject to a successful interview. Funding Support Apprenticeships for those aged under 19 are fully funded. Apprenticeships for those over this age are part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution. Employer Contribution Information on the required employer contribution is available on request.
