GOD OF WONDER MINISTRIES ‘Purify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do great wonders among you.’ Joshua 3:5 http://www.GodofWonder.org God of Wonder Ministries International (GWMI) was officially birthed in Ghana, four months to the day of our arrival in Africa! Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it’s the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21 We received the Certificate of Incorporation, Certificate to Commence Business, and The last time you saw a newsletter from us, we were “Agape Children’s Home” missionaries. We left America with a plan, and quickly found out that God had another purpose for us coming to Ghana! recognition as an Non Government Organization (NGO) in less than a month! The Social Welfare representative who walked the paper work through District, Regional, and National approval for the NGO told us “I’ve never seen anything like it!” Vol I, Issue I The Honorable Kenneth Obempong, Chief Executive Officer of the Ajumako-Enyan– Essiam District has helped establish GWMI in Ghana. Ajumako-Enyan– Essiam District officials (in the Central Region of Ghana) have been instrumental in getting established. They want us to help care for the estimated two thousand orphans in the area, as there are no other organizations able to offer a home to these needy children. Although our ‘assignment’ has changed since our arrival, our commitment to raising leaders of Righteousness from the forgotten orphans of Africa has not! We trust that you will be blessed hearing what the Lord has done to begin this new work, and that you will join us as we reach out to see the Wondrous love of our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) transform lives in Ghana. Ninety of the most destitute children in the area are AIDS orphans, who are in desperate need of a safe and stable environment to be raised in, according to Ben Narh the Social Welfare officer. See how you can make a difference in the life of a child in the Central Region, by reading the enclosed card. See what God is doing to make a place of refuge, for His orphaned children, on page 4. We believe that the believers of Africa, can fulfill the Great Commission in their generation, by discipling and training new believers to reach the ’uttermost parts of the earth’. We believe that the believers of Africa, can care for their sick and elderly, and raise the 15 million orphans in Sub Sahara Africa to be leaders of Righteousness in their generations. We believe that the believers of Africa, can “prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God” Ephesians 4:12b-13a Email us at: PastorLarry@GodofWonder.org PastorBeki@GodofWonder.org Stateside Address: 7611 Downstream Ct. Thoughts The best meat we’ve eaten in Ghana was fresh grass cutter in light soup! Grass cutters are a cat sized, grass eating, rat looking, animal common to the Central Region. We day dream about hot showers, which we haven’t had in five months (We are now in the coolest part of the year, and it is really chilly with cold water!) We pretend that the mouse stealing the bait from the trap, and the lizards running around the house are pets, after all we are feeding and housing them! While learning the days of the week, the kids always follow Wednesday by “Malaria Medicine Day”. Potty training is made easier by the open sewers along the roads, suitable for ‘wee-weeing’. (They are also utilized by people of all ages for this purpose!) On the other hand, we adults have learned to hold our bladders for long periods of time, and now get excited by a real outhouse in a village! Fresh grass cutter, antelope, and dried grass cutters, for sale along the highway. Our gracious hostesses, pounded fufu to go with the delicious grass cutter soup. MEDASSE! We owe a great deal of thanks to our many Ghanaian friends, who have worked tirelessly to help us stay, and get established in Ghana over the past 5 months. Without your prayers, support, and hard work, we would not be here. We are eternally grateful, that you have welcomed us as ‘strangers in your land’. Medasse! We owe a great deal of thanks to our support team. Without the faithfulness of our partners in America, we could not be here. We pray that the Lord would continue to meet all your needs, and bless you as you serve the King through giving. Thank you! We owe a great deal of thanks to the wonderful people currently serving the orphans of Ghana, who have shared with us their experiences, wisdom, and knowledge. To our friends at Beacon House, Children of the Light, Kinder Paradise, Rafiki, SOS (Tema), and Word Alive, thank you! May the Lord bless you, keep you, and provide your every need as you faithfully serve the “Father to the Fatherless”. Introducing God of Wonder Ministries International First Project!! Ajumako Children’s Home Years ago work was started on a complex, out in the bush, in Denkyira. When GWMI began looking for property, it was a miracle to find a facility that was vacant, and big enough to accommodate children and staff! Currently the children’s and staff’s rooms are painted, and only in need of furnishings. The CEO of the Ajumako-Enyan –Essiam District, Hon. Kenneth Obempong (far left) has been instrumental in setting up GWMI. The owners of the property, Mrs. & Mr. Nathaniel Sarquah (center) are accommodating the changes necessary to make this facility into a home! “We have 2,000 orphans, and no one to offer these children a home.” Every day progress is being made on the administrative courtyard (which includes the kitchen, offices, school rooms, and administrator’s apartment), bathrooms, and the future dinning hall.
